Beat the club by 1:45 p.m AT THE LATEST "Draw partner" event with a little surprise as incentive to "swing your best". The "Sunday Swingers" are looking for a few more couples to join in the fun and games If interested, please call me at 385-4765 or the Pro Shop and Curt McCormick. our "Pro" will be glad to get the message to me You need not be a club member to join in the fun There is a nominal fee each week for "dues" which are used for a "Swingout Out" banquet and prizes for everyone We also attend special events during the summer and winter, and stay as a close group. If you are a newcomer to the area and want to get acquainted and play golf of course, here is a chance to meet some nice people, enjoy the fresh air. and just have fun. There is competition, but we are not a "competitive group". Fun is our aim, good com panionship and comraderie. New to the group this year are Howard and Ann Kopp. We'll be looking forward to their addition to our fun loving "swingers". Unfortunately, Bill and Dottie Hayes will be unable to play with us this year. Bill was our treasurer. That job will be taken over by Howard Leonard, whom I am sure will make a very competent treasurer. There will be a meeting after play this week and committees will be named Better bring along a piece of paper to take notes so you will know on which committee you are to serve and who will serve with vou So, that's it "Swingers". See you the on the 19th tee. Play Golf Dee GOLF • • • By Pete Fritchie WASHINGTON, D. C. » Lee Trevino, a Supermex who for a time traded on his Chi- cano image, often with slaps at the American establishment (which has been generous to him, by the way) has a solid point in calling for genuine roughs at the nation's golf courses. Lee says too many U.S. courses are kept so well the rough is easily playable, that when a competitor hits an er rant drive into the rough, there's, in effect, little pen alty. Often he can play the ball from the low-cut rough area about as well as from the fairway, Lee argues. He sees this as contrary to what the game is supposed be.
