School District 156 PAlil*; 5 - CLAlIMUbALbn - r rVLUA 1 , MA t !*(» No Action Taken On Equal Treatment For Snow Day Pay In an attempt to equalize the treatment of certified and classified employees in High School District 156, Board member Dan McNulty moved last week to pay the aides, custodians and secretarial people for the three snow days for which the teachers had been paid during the past winter. It was McNulty's un derstanding that both classes of employees had been paid for the non-attendance days by Eleftientary District 15 without board discussion. The motion, however, failed to be con sidered for lack of a second. McNulty's action followed a discussion held in an executive session requested after a letter was introduced to the board complaining about the disparity in treatment. Also following this session the board moved to expel a student who was alleged to have made a bomb threat to the school. The board approved a number of bids or proposals to supply items to the two schools and in some cases the bids approved were not the lowest. Business manager Michael Kelly noted that in these cases bidders had made substitutions of materials that did not meet specifications or offered materials that the staff had found uijsatisfactory in past use. Named as successful bidders were: Purity Baking Co. for • bread; Schoep's Ice Cream Co. for ice cream; Hedlin Dairy for milk; and seven different vendors for $16,700 worth of athletic supplies and equip ment. Also approved were bids for a John Deere tractor equipped with a snowblower and other equipment from Adams Lawn and Leisure, and a flail mower from George Freund Co., total amount $11,500. The board approved the bid of McHenry State Bank (the only bidder out of nine solicitations) for tax an ticipation warrants at an in terest rate of 5.6 percent. They also authorized issuance warrants for $250,000 against building and operations and maintenance fund and the education fund. Legal Notice The board also approved a decision to accept a cash set tlement in place of land as a developer donation from the Chapel Hill Oaks Development, Eeiche Construction Inc., Roselle. The resolution will be included in a letter to the County board which must approve the proposed 58-lot subdivision on Chapel Hill road. Other actions included ex tension of the administrative intern program which has operated for the past two years. A position consisting of a two- fifths teaching load besides the administrative responsbilities gives ambitious faculty members an opportunity to get their feet wet in ad ministration. Leave of absence without pay for Ronald Schmitt, a West campus business education teacher, was approved with the condition that the school can find a replacement as business education teachers are in short supply. Also approved were the resignations of Mrs. Lynette Ludwigsen, a business education teacher* effective immediately ; Rebecca Ann Yates, West campus aid; Cora Mae Liem, East campus aide; and James Fritz, mechanic for buses. V Approved were the em ployment of Kim Hitchcock as self-contained learning disabilities instructor, Sharon McNish as bus driver, and Judith Howerton as East campus aide. The payroll of $105,702 for April was approved and bills payable from the education fund amounting to $41,515.19 were okayed. Other ex penditures approved included building operations, $37,708.27; transportation, $26,895.97; Illinois Municipal Retirement fund, $6,304.97; site and con struction, $15,000. Total okayed was $336,272.12. DATED, Woodstock, Illinois, April 2, 1979. Vernon W. Kays, Jr. Clerk of the Circuit Court Woodstock, Illinois FISHER AND FISHER ATTORNEY FOR PLAINTIFFS (Pub. May 25, June 1 & 8,1979) In a night that might be described as unsatisfactory, a burglar removed a window to gain entrance to West Shore Marine, 2902 Route 120, McHenry, and searched the desk and the drawers. The incident was reported on May 17, when the desk was found with the drawers open and papers strewn about the room. However, the burglar made off with a single dollar bill that had been lying on the desk. About four blocks away, on the same night, Eagle Welding Supply, 2500 Route 120, McHenry, reported that someone had broken a window to get into the office and search the desk. A cash box containing about $60 was taken. The next day, May 18, Tom Morgan, Wonder Lake, left the keys in his car a little too long. When he came out of Little John's, his car was gone. Issue Tickets After Crashes Brian S. Putnam, Plymouth, Mich., was ticketed for driving while intoxicated and driving while license was revoked or suspended after a two-car collision at the intersection of Park and Elm streets at 8 a.m. Friday. Patricia Vavrik, 2016 N. Orchard Beach, McHenry, said she was westbound on Elm street when Putnam's car crossed in front of her. Ms. Vavrik said she applied her brakes but could not avoid the accident. Putnam said he stopped for the stop sign and seeing no cross traffic, proceeded. Albert Smith, Chicago, was ticketed for improper lane usage when the semi he was driving moved into a lane oc cupied by a car driven by Joseph M. Dougherty, 4411 N. Maple Leaf, McHenry. The truck hit the right side of Dougherty's car and forced it into a sign on the other side of Crystal Lake road. No one was injured and more than $300 damage was done to Dougherty's car. On May 17, George Wilson, 2602 Holiday drive, McHenry, reported that someone had syphoned an estimated $40 worth of gasoline from the two cars parked in his driveway. Two days earlier, a Sheriff's deputy stopped to investigate a hitchhiker and found pot in his possession. Glenn Gondeck, Wonder Lake, was arrested for possession of cannabis and bond was set at $1000. And responding to report of a pick-up truck blocking traffic on Route 173 near Hebron, the officer found the driver asleep in the truck. James Unruh, 1411 N. Rich mond road, McHenry, was arrested for driving while in toxicated and having open liquor in the vehicle. Bond was set at $1035. 7 THE PIONEERS DRUM & BUGLE CORPS ELECTRONIC SERVICE CENTER Professional service on most imported makes WARRANTY SERVICE FOR.... •VIDEO TAPE •TELEVISION *STEREO •CASSETTE •REEL ^TURNTABLES •Pioneer *Craig *Sony •Panasonic "Sharp •Dual *Garrard •Sanyo *Soundesign •Phaselinear Many Others BROADCAST ENGINEERING 815-344-1830 3721 Elm Street (Across from Jewel) McHenry MczHEENFZ V OUTDOOR 344-0444 ADULTS $2.50 CHILD (Under 12) FREE STARTS FRIDAY 'SUPERMAN' PLUS AT 9:15 BUGS unnv FESTIVAL Pricas Effective Fri., May 25 thru Man., May 28 RAfEl* $125 I ALL SEATS WAIT DISNEYpmDucnow TECHNICOLOR FRI. 7-9.
