Rager, P. ^idler, J. Christensen, D. tattles, T. Barton, H. Young, Becker and R. Otth won matches and in fifth it, J. Gillette, Doc Carelle, J. Kenton, R. Kreuser, K. Holmes, J. Wakitsch, J. Sikes, and J. Kern came out on top. The second round of the President's Tournament will be played at the club on Sunday, July 15. This will be the last tour­ nament before the club championship and already many members are wondering if this is the year for someone other than Art Jackson or Ed Buss will win this event. No other club member has won the club championship besides Art or Ed since 1961 when our present pro, Vale Adams turned the trick. We have a few new members who they tell me could make it a very interesting club championship tournament in 1979. Only time will tell. Boat Weekend At Fox lake Area Notice Notice They are making big plans for a Boat Racing Festival at Fox Lake on Sunday, July 15. On Friday night,-July 13, there will be a concert in the Grant High School. Saturday afternoon the crowds will enjoy a Bar-B-Que, sand and boat show. Saturday night they swing back to Grant Bigh for another concert. At noon on Sunday, the in- boards, which list speeds in excess of 140 MPH, will go into action. Tony Sorling continued his hot hitting with a homer among his four hits. Matt Roy snatched his second consectuive withwith ten strikeouts. David Weakman had two hits to lead the Raven attack. The Blue Jays beat the Hawks 20-8 as Rich Hoffman won his fifth in a row. Brian Toussaint and Bob Pait had four hits each for the winners. \Kotiw led the Hawks with two hits. The Blue Jays also beat the Bluebirds 14-9 to bring the Jay's record to 10-4. Dyland O'Leary went 3 for 3 and Brian Toussaint went 2 for 2. Richie Hoffman knocked in winning runs with a bases loaded triple. Marty Quantz won his fourth of the year for the Bluebirds. For the Bluebirds Mike Moll may have made the catch of the season with a one handed diving grab in left field. Klocpfer led the Birds attack with 2 hits. In mini-league action the Braves edged the Indians 4-1 to move their record to 8-4-1. The Giants defeated the Phillies in extra innings 8-7 as Darryl Guthrie doubled home the winning run. In an evenly, played game the Sox took the measure of the Twins 4-1. Tim Mauer had the only hits, a homer and a double for the Sox. The Sox also edged the Indians 7-6 in another mini- game with Kevin McGee gaining the victory. In a tight game the Dodger squeaked by the Braves 1-0 as Brian Dow's 2 hit pitching and single scoring hit combined to lead the Dodgers. Attending the state-wide 4-H Conservation Workshop at Western Illinois 4-H campsite were Kim Farley of Ringwood and Ruth Ray of Woodstock. Kim and Ruth were selected to attend this education workshop last fall at the 4-H Record finish up. Delegates are selected on the basis of age, conservation projects, and their overall 4-H records.
