By "slipping" the clutch you can ride slowly enough to negotiate tight turns while giving your engine sufficient throttle to prevent stalling and satisfy power demands. Essentially you are controlling speed by alternately applying and removing power from the rcAr wheel. "Slipping" the clutch is accomplished by moving the CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING 24,000 B.T.U. When the clutch lever is squeezed beyond the friction point, power to the rear wheel is disengaged and the motor cycle will coast as if you were in neutral. Power will return when the clutch lever is released beyond the friction point. To practice this technique, start your motorcycle and depart slowly in first gear. After achieving a speed of 5 to 10 miles per hour, squeeze the clutch lever slightly behondthe friction point. As the motor cycle slows down, gently release the lever until power is restored. By providing just enough throttle to prevent the engine from stalling, you can maintain a slow and even ' If the motorcycle jerks or jumps forward, squeeze the clutch all the way, release the throttle and start over. You may have to practice this clutch-friction point-throttle technique many times before you get the real feel for it. You must be able to operate the clutch smoothly at the friction point without looking at your hands. It's a matter of feel. "Slipping" the clutch not only helps you negotiate, .tight turns but also proves to be a valuabte tool to use when riding v in congested, stop-and-go traffic. Send your questions to me at 2300 S. There's a good reason. The heat pump is the most energy-efficient way to heat and cool a home. Instead of burning fuels to make heat as oil and gas systems do, the heat pump uses electricity to capture solar heat already in the outside air. By using existing heat, it produces at least 50% more energy than it uses over the entire winter. As outside temperatures drop, the heat pump is supplemented by electric resistance heat to keep you warm. In summer, it acts as a central air conditioner. The initial cost of a heat pump is a little higher But the operating cost is lower. With energy costs rising, that makes the heat pump the energy-smart choice lor a new home. Tblk to your contractor.
