Wish they would change the TV commercials more often. The same ones over and over again get mighty tiring. We know by now that certain pills will dissolve in your stomach 30 seconds quicker than one put out by a com petitor. Never was quick to believe that somebody was giving me something better for less money Then we hear the pitchmen tell us about some product on sale for only $99 99 -- and hurry -- some offer may end soon. Better hurry like the man says. The price may go up to $100.00 any day. Liz Nolan, topnotch reporter of "Divot Dolls" golfing, reported in her last column about the McHenry Country Club Travel Team winning first place in the Northern Division Liz will be reporting on the playoffs so watch the column of the Dolls. I S.I.H.'jast wants to stick in his two cents by saying "Congratulations" to the girls. Pat Wirtz sends greetings from Southern Illinois and sends a pack of reports on the 12" Softball league On the back of the sheet, he drew a map of Illinois with a note-What do you mean "Where the heck is Ozark9" From the map, it looks like Ozark is 400 miles south of McHenry as the crow flies. But, a crow wouldn't fly in that direction during the hot weather season The Chicago Bears are (^d their training camp at Lake Forest. No glowing reports at this point, but Bob O'Neill will probably get the scoop real soon. ^ Focflball in July and August never took my fancy. Baseball teams go south to train. Why don't football teams go north? Mrs. Bill Creutz phoned to say the last McHenry Day at Tarpon Springs, Fla., brought out a large crowd. She and her husband. Bill, came back to the old area from Hollywood, Fla., to visit their son Ron and family. Through some crossed wires, we didn't get a report of the April McHenry Day. Just to show how this group is on the ball, Mrs. Creutz read in this comer of Ye Olde Plain- dealer that 'the John Thomp sons plan to mdfce to Florida and they want to invite them into the group I didn't have John's address in Burlington, Wise., so asked her to call his brother, Jim. Said she knows Jim. Doesn't everybody9 The White Sox brought up an unheralded young southpaw named Hoffman to bolster their injury plagued bullpen He looks like a find. Like some of the great pichers, he throws nothing but strikes. Thinking back. In one of our high school class plays. Floyd Hopper was supposed to say. "Life is just one d-- thing after another Love is two d-~ things after each other." That word wasn't "darn". Miss Pryor was directing the play and had a hard time getting Floyd to say the word Came the night of the play and with a clear voice he let it out like a sonic boom The crowd loved it. - , The birds and squirrels around our back forty are not loo happy about the invasion of a black cat They make quite a fuss. Crowds assembled early for the Fiesta parade, carrying chairs and looking for a good point of vantage. They seemed to be singing "I Love A Parade". Attorney Sam Diamond's mother was telling us her husband was really down when Dave Kingman hit three homeruns in a game the Cubs lost. No mention of our White Sox.
