International Vter of the Child 1979 To celebrate the year of the child, UNICEF has planned a special two-hour telethon, Entitled "Celebrate the Children", the television special will be broadcast over „ 150 TV stations before the end of the year, reaching an audience of millions. - Another activity to com memorate the International Year of the Child, the TV special aims to bring to the attention of the American public the desperate plight of the 800 million boys and girls in the world's developing coun tries, most of whom are malnourished, chronically sick, and living in conditions of extreme poverty. By fo£iujng on one family, one mother, one father, one child iv places such as West Africa, Honduras, Bangladesh jHd Thailand, the program will illustrate in a most personal manner the daily lives of children in other parts of the world. And it will also demonstrate solutions to the problems they face by giving examples of how UNICEF assistance makes a difference. Hugh Downs will act asliost. assisted by Danny Kaye, Ed X|ner, Pearl Bailey, David Hartman, Eve Arden, Johnny Mathis, and others. Watch for the announcement of this special program, assuring everyone a significant op portunity to Celebrate the Children. For: "Every Child Is 'My' Child" The seeds of repentance are sown in youth by pleasure, but the har vest is reaped in age by pain. -C.C. Colton.
