Ringwood News 385-8037 653-9262 728-0343 Joint September UMW Meet Held At Wetley Woods The September U.M.W. meeting will be held at Wesley Woods, Lake Geneva. This is a Joint meeting of the Ring*vood and Greenwood U.M.W. ladies, but all are welcome to join us. We will meet at Ringwood church on Thursday, Sept. 13, and will pool rides and leave promptly at 10 a.m. If you have any questions about the day ptease call Doris Low, Althea Walkington or Katie Christopher. We will have lunch there and a very in­ formative program from Lake Bluff Homes for Children. Do join us. HOST PUPPET WORKSHOP ' Monday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m., the Ringwood United Methodist church will sponsor a workshop on "Puppetrv". for the Elgin District of U.M.C. This workshop will be led by Dale Woodward of Australia, who is presently in this country conducting workshops of this nature throughout the United States. - Churches of, all den­ ominations - are invited to send representatives. This session is open to everyone who is interested in the field of puppetry. CELEBRATE FORTIETH It was a happy occasion for Paul and Althea Walkington to have all their family as well as Althea's brothers and sisters present last Tuesday evening to help them celebrate their fortieth wedding anniversary. Their anniversary was Aug. 16, but since Tom and Maya Walkington had to return to their home in Butler, Pa., on Wednesday, the family celebration was a little early. Others present were Jay and Jan Walkington and family, Addison; Clarence and Ida Mae Adams and family, Wonder Lake; Lee Walkington, Alvin and Muriel Benoy, McHenry; Harry and Emily Benoy, Crystal Lake; Alice (Benoy) Moan, Ray and Arlene (Benoy) Wilcox, Ray and Marilyn Benoy, Darrel and Arlene Benoy, all of Woodstock. Also present were Glen and Dorothy Benoy, Alden, and Wilbur and Pearl Benoy, Elkhorn.Thurs- sday evening a few friends called to wish the Walkingtons "many happy returns of the day". TRAVELERS Art, Mary and Laura Baker made a pleasant trip to Strawberry Point, Iowa, the week-end of Aug. 12 for a reunion of Art's family. Twenty-eight members gathered at the city hall to enjoy dinner and family visiting. After arriving home, the folks received word that a new. member had joined the. Baker clan. Art's nephew's wife had given birth to a little girl Aug. 18, day after. Bob Baker's birthday. There are two little brothers waiting to welcome sister home. Art and Katy Christopher and Bill and Shirley Cristy took a long weekend to do some sightseeing and visiting. They toured the Circus Museum at Baraboo and Wisconsin Dells, visited the Gary Linstads at Black Creek and Clarence Christophers at Marinette. On the way home they stopped at Waupaca to visit Bills' relatives. Sherri Cristy flew to DesMoines, Iowa, to spend a week with her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Diane Cristy, who live in Indianola, Iowa. While there, she got to see the hot-air balloon races. Mabel Thomas, McHenry, and daughter, Doris Low, spent last week with the Larry Thomas family in L'Anse, Mich. They returned home via Hazelhurst, Wis., and spent a night with Betty and Bob Graham. FAMILY GATHERINGS On Sunday, Aug. 12, Doris' side of the family gathered at the Low home so that the cousins on her side could get better acquainted. Roger and Pam Thomas of Melrose, Fla., were home for a visit so this prompted the gathering. Rick and Laurii Thomas, Lake Zurich; Grandpa Sorenson; Judy and Chuck Stuck; Melissia and Chuckie, Crystal Lake; and their mom, Doris, and hubby, Biiy Pam and Dan Kehoe; Sue Madey; Donna Lynn; Eddie and Marcy, Harvard; Pattie Miller'; Lee and Scott; Dan Hanson and Ray and Tom Low; Marge Fernstrom; Tami Yvonne and little Donnie Fernstrom; and Gordon and Sherrie Fernstrom and Mabel Thomas were among the guests. Monday evening brought the Low side together for July and August birthdays, with a spagetti supper at Ma and Pa Lows'. Those helping to celebrate were Pam and Dan §ehoe; Linda Billikas; Nicky, fiarlie and Becky of Dubuque, Towa; Bob and Sue Low; Mabel Thomas of McHenry' and Ray and Tom Low; Patti Miller; Lee and Scott; Alice Mae Wilcox, Sue Madey; Donna, Eddie and Marcy. Those bir­ thdays being celebrated were Donna and Eddie Erwin, Bob and Walt Low, in July, and the August birthdays were Ray Low, Nicky Billikas and Grandma Thomas. Tom Low was also included, even though his birthday is in September. A happy happy was had by aU, with a delicious whip cream strawberry cake brought by Pam., WEEK-END VISIT Little Aaron Bork had a big weekend on the eleventh and twelfth. He spent this weekend, with Grandpa (Bob) and Grandma (Martha) Betts while Mom and Dad (Debbie and Bill) made a quick trip to Florida. Donna's gifts are to be sent to her. Lovely gifts were received by both for their babies-to-be. Cake and punch were served. This is the first for both. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday to Gloria Fehr, Brenda Gutekunst (out there on S. Ridgeway) and to BLAZE, on Aug. 26. Aug. 27 is that special day for Debbie Hartjes, and on the twenty- eighth David Christopher and l|ich Gillespie celebrate another year. Aug. 29 we find Judy Bruce and Patty Christopher adding another year, as does Bill Dowell on Aug. 30. Aug. 31 was a busy day With Richard Thompson, Richie Gillespie, Mabel Thomas and Anita Munger celebrating another year. Bud Oxtoby will have his special day on Sept. 1.
