BRAD PRASSE SERENADES BRIDE - Singing an original composition ai their wedding service, Brad Lee Prasse of Mokena, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert T,. Prasse, Arlington HeighU, claimed as his bride Leah Renee Rode, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rode, Jr., McHenry, on Aug. 12 in Zion Lutheran chnrch. A reception was held afterward at Hunter Country club, and the couple honeymooned at Delavan, Wis.,and are planning a trip to Alaska later. The bride graduated from McHenry high school and the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, and is a teacher in the Crete- Monee school district. The groom graduated from Hersey high school and the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, with a mojor in marketing. He is employed in sales for Wesco Westinghouse in Alsip. MR. AND MRS. KEVIN KENNEDY SPECIAL MUSIC - The July 21 wedding of the former Shirley Basel to Kevin Kennedy featured "Schubert's "Ave Maria", sung by the mother of the groom, and a special song, written by best man, Christopher Kennedy, brother of the groom, and sung by the groom. Father Robert Balog celebrated the noon ceremony between the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Basel, 4305 W. Shore drive, McHenry, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Kennedy, 255 Berkshire, Crystal Lake. A reception was held at Crescent Bay Landing. The couple are residing in McHenry. The bride and groom are graduates of McHenry county college and the bride earned a BS in Fashion Merchandising from Northern Illinois university, while the groom earned a BA from Western Illinois university in Mass Communications. Besides the ribbons, plaques and trophies that are awarded at the McHenry county fair, 4- H'ers are also vying for the opportunity to have their project selected for exhibit at the Illinois state fair. Thirty-five youth from McHenry county participated Aug, 14 in various project areas. They received A, B and C ratings for their projects and some received the prize award, being the superior exhibit in that class for the day. Seaton-Benda Wedding At Holy Family Church The Church of the Holy Family, Lake Villa, was the setting for the Aug. 18 exchange of promises of marriage bet­ ween Anne Elizabeth Sea ton and James Joseph Benda. Father Liebrecht officiated at the 2:30 p.m. ceremony and special selections, sung by Cindy Jones, were "Wedding Song", "Follow Me" and "Sunrise, Sunset". The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Seaton, 3804 Grove avenue, McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph G. Benda, 414 Pruxne, Lemont, 111., are the parents of the groom. The bride was attired in her mother's wedding dress, a classic gown of white nylon tulle and Brussels lace over tissue faille, fashioned with a sheer illusion neckline, ac­ cented by a tulle pleated ber­ tha. Long, closely fitted sleeves were scalloped at the edge. A fitted basque bodice crowned a bouffant skirt of nylon tulle, with inserts of pleated Brussels lace that fell into soft folds, and swept into a chapel train. Her full circular fingertip veil of white nylon illusion was accented with imported pearlized orange blossoms, an heirloom head­ piece that was worn by her great-great-grandmother 105 years ago, and was also worn by her mother on her wedding day. Completing the lovely picture was a cascading bouquet of white roses, stephanotis, and Eucharist lilies. Matron of honor was Patricia (Smith) Hetico of Waukegan. Bridesmaids were Marian (Twomey) Fenelon of Oak Lawn, Jane Eppel of McHenry, and Peggy Benda, sister of the groom, of Lemont. Heidi and Beth Seaton, Ledyard, Conn., cousins of the bride, were junior bridesmaids. Attendants wore floor length gowns of pale , lavender organza. The skirts were crystal pleated and the bodices and hems were trimmed with ruffles. Matching picture hats trimmed with lace and adorned with flowers were worn by each of the girls. They carried bouquets of multi-colored daisies, small carnations, purple asters and babies breath, with cream colored streamers. The best man was Dave Olinger of Virginia. Groom­ smen were William, John and Gary Benda, brothers of the groom. Ushers were Jeff Benda, brother of the broom | and John and Robert Seaton, brothers of the bride. The bride's mother wore a gown of platinum qiana, with a fingertip cape. A rust colored floor length gown with short sleeves was selected by the mother of the groom. After the ceremony, a reception for 150 guests was held at the Chapel Hill country club. The couple spent a honeymoon weekend at Chateau Louise, and will be residing in Bolingbrook, 111. The bride, a graduate of McHenry high school and North Central college, is a teacher. The groom graduated from Lemont high school, and is employed as a truck driver for Naperville Excavating. MR. AND MRS. MARK ALLEN FERGUSON MARRIED IN IOWA - The Coralville, Iowa, United Methodist church, was the setting for the July 7 wedding of the former Susan Leith Honning, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Engene Honning, 4|( Mineral Springs, McHenry, and Mark Allen Ferguson, son of Roy and Norma Ferguson, Coralville. Iowa. Dr. George Whitfe officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony, during which the bride wore tho same lovely gown worn by her nother at her wedding. Her twif sisters, Judy and Amy, were bridesmaids, and a brother, John;' waa an usher. The Highlander Inn, Iowa City was the site of fr reception. The couple will be residing in DesMoines', Iowa. The bride was a graduate of McHenry high school and, she and the' groom are both graduates of Iowa State university. The bride is *< district manager of Brandeis company, DesMoines, and the groom is an architect for Ryco company, DesMoines. > < Reside In Wonder Lake Following their Aug. 18 wedding at St. Peter's Catholic church, Spring Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Englert will be residing in Wonder Lake. The bride, the former Felicia Sue May, is the daughter of Bernard May, 1905 North street, Spring Grove, and Mae May, 1212 Park lane, Spring Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Englert, 706 Vermillion street, Streator, 111., are the parents of the groom. Father John Kilduff of­ ficiated at the 1:30 p.m. ceremony solemnizing their vows, and special music was provided by organist and vocalist, Peter Thelen, vocalist, Gloria DeFranco and guitarist, Donna DeFranco. White potted mums and white aisle bows decorated the church. A white mendicino gown with Belgian lace and satapo pleated train was the choice of the bride. Completing the look was a white mendicino hat with Belgian lace and veil attached. Scarlett May, McHenry, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaid was Annastasia Stetter, Richmond, sister of the bride. Attendants wore ivory gowns with flowers in their hair. Performing the duties of best man for his brother was William Englert, Streator, and another brother, Gerald Englert, was the groomsman. The bride's brothers, Luke and Chad May, were ushers. The mother of the bride wore a navy blue chiffon floor length dress, and a rose colored full length gown was the choice of the mother of the groom. A reception for 250 guests was held at St. Peter's hurch hall after the ceremony. The bride, who received her BS in Education from Western Illinois university is an elementary level teacher. The bridegroom is a junior high teacher, and received his BS in Education from Northern Illinois university, and masters in Outdoor Education from Taft campus of Northern Illinois university. UMW Rummage Sale Is Today The annual "All Church Rummage Sale" at the First United Methodist church, is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 24 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 26, from 8 a.m. to noon. Due to the extensive building program now in progress, it has been necessary to schedule the annual fall all church rumage sale a little earlier than usual. There are bargains galore, and a person may get much fall shopping done early. A person may browse and enjoy a coffee and donut break, and early birds will get the best buys. _____ BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING Free blood pressure screening at the First United Methodist church will be Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m. This is a monthly free service in conjunction with the local hospital, for the convenience of people in the area. RICHARD BARTLETT LIVING IN CARPENTERSVILLE - The former Georgina Gisel Ruzicka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ruzicka of Wonder Lake, exchanged solemn promises of marriage with Richard Joseph Bartlett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bartiett of Woodstock, at the altar of Christ the King church on Aug. 11, at 3 p.m. The bride had attended McHenry high school and is employed as a dietary aide at McHenry hospital. The groom is a graduate of Woodstock high school, and is employed as a machinist. The couple are making their home in Carpentersville. K AND K PHOTOGRAPHY MR. AND MRS. PAUL MATTEONI CELEBRATE SIXTY-FOUR YEARS - Paul and Helen Matteonl, McHenry, were married in Chicago, Aug. 25, 1915, and are celebrating their sixty-fourth wedding anniversary Saturday. Their daughter and son-in-law, Eleanore and Chuck Schlottman, are having an anniversary dinner on that day, and inviting family members to celebrate. Joining the festivities are Mrs. Matteoni's sister and brother, Edith Connoly from Dolton, 111., aj|d Arthur D'Ambrosio and his wife Hazel, from Park Ridge. A ntam, Vileda Maloy from Crown Point, Ind., will be helping celebrate.
