I read your column ex plaining the difference between arbitration, conciliation and mediation. As an employer, I am especially interested in the aspect of including the Illinois Arbitration Service in the c o l l e c t i v e b a r g a i n i n g agreement with the union. How do I go about this? The Illinois Arbitration Service, a unit within the Illinois Department of Labor, provides arbitration services at no cost to employers or labor organizations. By including this service in the collective bargaining agreement, a professional neutral arbitrator is provided to resolve disputes which are difficult to settle by direct negotiations. This ar bitrator is selected from a panel of 3-5 qualified ar bitrators located in the Marion, Springfield, and Chicago of fices. McHenry Market Place Daily 9-9, Sat. 9-6, Sun. 10-5 PARENTHOOD GUIDEBOOK By Nancy Moore Thurmond (author, Mother's Medicine. Pub. by Wm. Morrow, N.Y.) The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he i$ old he will not depart from it." You will rear your own child in your own style, by your own example, and by your own standards. Good or bad, your imprint will remain on him forever. As a new mother, your first word will be "Help!" Seek, and ye shall find that your most important advisors will be your husband, grandma and your pediatrician. Even though you and your husband may be uncertain, perplexed and even overwhelmed by the behavior of the newborn, just relax and do with him and for him, what comes naturally. Some newborn mothers rightly feel their babies are unblemished and absolutely beautiful in every detail. Others have a sense of disap pointment when they view their ugly duckling. Some new mothers have a letdown, a sinking feeling when they first view their scrawny, awkward newborn. 'IE* Whatever emotions come to you as you gaze for the first time upon the blessing God has given you in the remark able gift of a child, remember that this little helpless individ ual will soon grow into matu rity with time and love. Offer a prayer of thanks giving if he has ten fingers and toes. "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence witlv singing. Know ye that the Lord He is God; it is He that hath made us, and not we our selves. We are His People and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise; be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all genera tions."
