HELPING PAWS ANIMAL WELFARE ASSOCIATION P.O. Box 205 • Crystal Lako, Illinois 60014 •(•15)459.2641 Darling little grey and white short hair neutered male, 5 months, needs a home. Very affectionate and has had all of his shots. A real bargain in many ways. Call Us foster mom at455*23M. DON KAISER PHOTO Although donations are coming in slowly and in small amounts, we are most grateful, for, as you know, every quarter can add up to many dollars. We are also pleased to report that HP has become the proud recipient of a lady whirlwind, Harriet Robins of Crystal Lake. This wonderful gal has been placing our collection cans, along with pictures of actual HP and Animal Control pets, in area stores to help in our fund raising drive. This effort has already netted $118 out of only two stores in two days. We will be printing names of area businesses who are holding our collection cans. Without them, this money could not be received and they cer tainly deserve a plug. * We welcome other folks and businesses in other towns to join in the collection can craze. We feel confident that this method of fund raising is the very best, however, we need people to do it. Please call the office, if you can help. 459-2641. The second annual Morris Memorial Cat show was held last Sunday at the Crystal Point Mall and was a big success. The Best of Show winner was a cat befitting the tradition and meaning of Helping Paws. An ordinary short haired black and brown striped feline, it held the distinction of being a neigh borhood stray not really helonging to any one family now. As ajfijistplace w Show winner live its life happily and with distinction with owner Roberta Rosendahl. "S People are coming forth to help in answer to our plea. The Equestrian 4-H club is holding a bake sale at Montgomery Wards in Crystal Lake, and proceeds are going to us. Un fortunately by the time it was planned, we could not pread- vertise the event. However we appreciate them and Sue Royal for her Tag day organizing and promoting in the Cary area. Our pride and joy has become our store. Once just an office, we are now doing a substantial business as retailers. Florence Cass, who came to us as our secretary, finds herself busily acting as a sales clerk. She is all caught up in her new role and is taking an active part in ordering and promotion. f Please come in as we are getting new stock every day. Not a supply store but rather gifts for people about pets..for example, we have Love Me Love My Cat or Dig pillows as well as Christmas stockings for your pet with its own name. In conjunction wtyh our store., which is also our office, at 465 Virginia street, Route 14, Crystal Lake, we will be having a booth at the Oct. 6 arts and crafts fair in the Crystal Lake plaza shopping center, spon sored by the Crystal Lake artists' co-op. Many of our Christmas line items will be offered on this date if you want to get a head start on holiday shopping. We still want that clinic- shelter facility and need suggestions on how to make that dream a reality. One further note, many people in Chicago are donating gas- guzzling vehicles, vans and large cars, to Goodwill which they, in turn, sell for a fund raiser. We too are as tax exempt as is Goodwill. We could put such a vehicle, to use in transporting animals, and also bringing our store and promotional programs to other towns in McHenry county. If you have such a vehicle to donate, we'll receive it gladly and with a receipt for your tax utionbn our organization and its programs call Mary Nelson, 312-658-6389, or President Gary Boettcher, 312-639-2881.
