Wonder Lake ' Anne Sowers 653-9549 Girl Scouts Welcome Twenty ' The Girl Scouts have recently begun their new season with an investiture ceremony to re- dedicate the old members and to welcome the new girls, twenty new girls were welcomed into the troop by receiving their Girl Scout pin. The girls have been learning the Girl Scout promise and law, what they mean, and how they apply to the life of a Girl Scout. r Four new patrol leaders were named. They are Diane Burrell, Allyson Lane, Renee Ruzicka, and Jenny Turner. Two lucky girls celebrated their birthdays with the troop and received a gift from the other girls. They were Juli Deany and Lisa Mills. The girls are making macrame jewelry in the shape of the Girl Scout trefoil. This is a fun project, but also teaches than the different knots they need to know to receive one of their badges- There are now thirty _girls in the troop and Scout Leader Cheri Wright says that adult help would always be ap preciated. The girls meet every Wednesday at 3:15, at Nativity Lutheran church hall. YOUNG AT HEARTS WELCOME VISITORS The Oct. 3 meeting of the Young at Hearts was highlighted by a visit from Susie and Gerhardt Scholz. They are former members who have now moved from the area. Their visit was most welcomed. The birthday song was sung to foua> members, Adeline Dolan, Tom Hilliard, Betsy Smith, and Eleanora Willi*, who are all celebrating October birthdays. Get well wishes were sent along to Marie Barthuly and Rita Waldy. The next meeting will be Oct. 17 at ll a.m. at Christ the King church hall. Mrs. Fenner and president, Mrs. Glen (Dottie) Messer extend a cordial invitation for membership to mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and grand daughters of living veterans who are members of the American Legion or to the same relatives of a man or woman who was killed or died while serving in World War I or II, the Korean War or during the Viet Nam conflict, or after honorable discharge from any such service. Any woman veteran who has had service during the designated periods of time, is also eligible for membership. New eligibility dates for membership are as follows: World War I, April 6, 1917 to Nov. 11, 1918; World War II, Dec. 7, 1941 to Dec. 31, 1946; Korean War, June 25, 1950 to Jan. 31, 1955; Viet Nam con flict, Aug. 5,1964 to May 7,1975.
