The American Association of Medical Assistants is an educational organization of persons connected with the medical profession. This organization encompasses not only the nursing staff, but the administrative portion of patient care as well. A.A.M.A.'s Illinois society annual meeting provides an opportunity for all members to advance their knowledge through general educational sessions. CEUs (continuing education units) are awarded for many sessions. Guest speakers scheduled to conduct these programs are Dr. Robert J. Stein, cheif medical examiner of Cook county, and Dr. Robert S. Frank, division chairman of humanities . and com munication of McHenry County college. ^ The theme of this year's meeting is "LOVE IS". This thente is defined by mem bers as empathy, achieving, learning, giving and caring, an ideal for those who work in the medical field. It has always been the desire of the McHenry Medical assistants to host this meeting, but due to the lack of facilities for 300 people in McHenry county, it did not become a reality. Two years ago, a bid was made in the House of Delegates and accepted to hold it in Northwest Cook county. * * Preparations have been under way since then; and since only six months remain, the members will be reaching out to the McHenry community for help, some of which has already been . given. Much more will be needed to make this a suc cessful venture. At present, McHenry has 26 members, who meet monthly with a professional as a speaker. Anyone who works under the direction of an M.D. may join. Call Mrs. Gerald (Maureen) Lagowski or Mrs. Ralph E. (Helen) Smith for further in formation.
