Fashion in the making TRUEDSSON'S ELEGANT SILHOUETTE Gil Truedsson is one of the most exciting young talents on the men's fashion scene. He has recently received a , special Coty Award for his shoe collection, and has been nominated for the Menswear Coty Award. Truedsson designs tailored clothing, outerwear, ski wear, and accessories. What Truedsson does is v "wardrobe concept de- signwear," that is, he does all the components himself. The mood of his fall collec tion is very dressy and quiet; the silhouette he favors, very ele gant. Truedsson's jackets have pad ded shoulders and narrow lapels with rounded corners. Trousers are draped, with double or single-pleated fronts and narrower legs.' Dress shirts have collars with shorter points; ties are narrower and shorter. Everything works together, creates a balance. Equally important is foot wear. Ihiedsson's shoes have an antique flavor--the stitching around the sole is visible-- which plays back to the "retro" detailing of the clothing. Truedsson favors unusual ma terials such as crocodile stamp calf and leathers with pebble grain effects. Ihiedsson's outerwear collec tion is strong on leathers and. suedes', with some furs for those fjl really cold winter days. 1- r v.". Designers have made it easy to project just the right office im age. Suits are big news. Skirts are lean-lined, and body close . . . stopping just below the knee. New lines Forget the slits, the wraps and the awkward pleating. These lines are straight and clean, for the woman who means business in the boardroom. Pair up your suits with fabu lous little blouses featuring lots of detail. Look for pleating, a soft-bow neckline and squared shoulders. When choosing colors, go with a neutral that's been deep ened and warmed for fall. Play off a charcoal suit with a sap phire blouse. Nothing's as ele gant as the sparkle of a jewel tone against a deep background shade. Cover up with style Cover it up with a 7/g's length coat--definitely the coat to col lect this fall. It goes over every thing with tremendous style. Choose a nubby fabric. You'll love the contrast of clean lines and lots of texture . Don't forget a pair of pumps--in suede, reptiles, kid or calf. Select a heel you feel comfortable in and pair them with textured stockings. Fashion accessory An attach^ case is this fall's key accessory. And now there's Chim&re, a new fragrance by Prince Match- abelli, that captures the duality of today's woman. So when you change your outfit, there's no need to change your scent. And when you emerge from your nine-to-five world, your after-hours are filled with rich color, silky fabrics and lots of invention. Smashing dinner dressing The man who sees you close up appreciates your eye for de tail. He notices when you come to dinner in a soft, beaded sweater and pencil-thin satin skirt. You make a fashion statement when you appear wrapped in twilight black shot with metal- lies and brights. Basic beauty routine Your evening beauty routine is relaxed and luxurious. It be gins with a stop at the health club. Saunas, steam rooms and whirlpools work out the tensions of the day. Follpw up with a light dusting of Chim&re powder and a splash of cologne. Makeup is dramatic and eye catching. Go for a soft, feminine look--pale skin warmed with iridescent shades like faun, wine and violet. And when the mood is casual, reach for one of the hew sweaters. They can be big, shaped, novelty knits or smaller, shortened tops that draw the eye to your waist. Clutter is out Sweaters look best with sim ple slacks. Forget elaborate pleats and clutteiv?Finish with buttery suede ankle boots. By the time you arrive home, no one would guess you've put in long hours at a desk. But your man knows all the facets of your complex life ... and he loves you for it. He knows that up close you're something else. 1 am opposed to a style thai does not last ... I cannot envisage throwing away one's clothes be cause spring has come. --Coco Chanel A woman wearing light colors will not easily fall into a bad mood. --Coco Chanel THE PATTERNMAKER is responsible for translating de signers' creations into final garment models in a graded range of sizes.
