Open Film Series Whatever Happened totne Human Race? , Police Tickets Charles Christensen, member of the Alliance church, 3815 Bull Valley road, is pictured explaining to Steven Kola the details of the coming series of films to be shown in the next Ave weekends at the church, beginning Jan. 19-20, at 7 p.m. The first of a film series, entitled "Abortion of the Human Race", part of a series of five known as "Whatever Happened to Human Race?", will be shown Jan. 19-20 at Alliance church. Each weekend for the next five weeks one of the film series will be shown, starting at 7 p.m., both Saturday and Sunday evenings. The films, showing and exposing the rapid yet subtle loss of human rights, is one that the Rev. Gerald Robertson feels everyone should see. The Alliance is starting its week of prayer Monday, and continuing throughout the week. The public is invited to ^ join in a time of prayer during the week ahead for world conditions, the needs of each other, and for the leaders of the country. Saturday, Jan. 19, the church will hold its annual meeting prior to the showing of the first film. The church has grown in the past year in membership. There is a spirit of love being manifested within the body of believers and new folks are coming to enter into the fellowship. The community is en couraged to come and see the films and determine for themselves how this nation is moving. Village of McHenry Shores Inge Aide 344-1984 Rose Lillegard 385-4517 Name Building The building at 3211 W. Beach in McHenry Shores, formerly called the Village Annex, has been aptly renamed the McHenry Shores Civic Center. It houses the library, is the base for activities of the Recreation department, and board and committee meetings are held there. The renovations are nearly finished, and the building looks very nice. This is another example of how things can be ac complished when people and government work together. It is up to you, "the residents, to use what is being offered. Otherwise the efforts of everybody con cerned are wasted. Most people do not seem to realize how unique some of the opportunities are for a village of our size and how grateful we should be for th^m. /Please give .your support, show that you care, show that you are interested in all this village has to offer. In these days of gas shortages and inflation, the closer you can stay to home, the easier it will be on you and your budget, and the more you use the facilities in the village, the harder the president and the board of trustees will try to improve on what is already there. LIBRARY NEWS As the library in the McHenry Shores Civic center is being physically expanded, hours must be cut back, due to lack of interest in the community. And this time we not only ask you to please use the library, but also to help build it up again. If you have only half an hour a week to help, it would be appreciated greatly. Our dream is to open the library at least for one half hour on as many days as we can manage, at different times during the day, to make it easy for everybody to find a convenient time slot. If you are interested in helping the library and, through it, the village of McHenry Shores, please call Nancy at 385-8949 or Inge at 344-1984. The library is open Mondays from 9:30 to 10 a.m., and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6 p.m. BIRTHDAYS It was an especially nice celebration for the village clerk, Dr. S.A. Larsen, since she was able to spend not only the Christmas holidays but also her birthday Jan. 3, with both her visiting sons. Lee Lexow was 17 years young Jan. 6, and Susan Ewald turned 19 on the eighth. Gerry Olbinski celebrated her birthday Jan. 9. Congratulations and best wishes tp all birthday people, and many happy returns. any terest wemaki an error.
