Here's something that's almost a tongue twister, "How big should a bank be to be the bank you can bank on?" Hopefully, about the size of ours. Large enough to be financially strong but small enough to offer real personal' service. Banks that are just the right size do a lot of things for customers that banks in the big cities won't and things that smaller financial operations can't, This is what we aim for . . progressive, but completely per sonal. > When looking for a banking home, search out a bank that's finan cially strong and growing. One you can count on to have, the abiltiy to help when you need it. One that's been around long enough to have a firm financial footing and knows the community in which it operates. Pick a bank where people listen and, then, respond in a positive way. Choose one that's the right size for your needs. One where their service means . . You can BANK On It! The proper operation of all types of boats, especially the family outboard; is emphasized in the 10-week course which began Jan. 16. Registration will take place at the second meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Grant high school, 285 E. Grand avenue. Fox Lake. It is open to interested men, women, and older teens. It is not necessary to be a boat owner. Aimed to teach the minimal knowledge required for safe boating, completing the course will increase the boatman's confidence, according to Juergen Geithe, commander of the Chain-O- Lakes squadron. It will lay a basic foundation for building boating skills by further study, application and ex perience. The classes, cover such subjects as boat handling under normal and adverse conditions, .seamanship and common emergencies, rules of the road, aids to navigation, compass and chart familiarization, running lights and equip ment. boat trailering and river boating. "A boater. being responsible for himself and his passengers, who goes out on the water without proper knowledge of the rules of the road, safety requirements or aids to navigation, is asking for trouble," the commander said. "With the information he may gain from this free instruction, he can have his boat properly equipped and be able to cope with the many situations he may face on the water." The Chain-O-Lakes Power squadron is a unit of the United States Power squadrons, largest volunteer educational organization for boatmen in the world. Its members are men dedicated to promote safety in boating through education and donate their time to this service. There are more than 400 squadrons in the United States, with nearly 85.000 members.
