SLEDDING REMINDER With the winter snows finally here, we remind parents that children sledding on the hilly streets of McHenry Shores is ex tremely dangerous. Often automobile drivers are unable to see sledders as they approach intersections. A perfect site for sledding is available at the vicinity of the water tower. The hill is steeper and is not accessible to vehicle traffic It also provides an opportunity for children to meet and enjoy the winter sport with other children of their age. On occasions, one can even see fathers partaking in the sport even though the children out-endure Us older folks. VOTER REGISTRATION Primary Elections will be held March 18. It is an ex tension of the junior-senior level commercial foods course in which students sell coffee cakes, sweet rolls, etc. to the staff and students in . the mornings. These students also take special s orders for birthday cakes and other similar items. To help make this course self- sufficient financially, the students are selling their products at cost. This course is designed to offer information and practical experiences to those students from both campuses interested in a career in Food Services. Students learn how to prepare food for, and serve, a large group of people. This includes the preparation of hors d' ourves, soups, main dishes, desserts, coffee cakes, and sweet rolls and how to cook and carve meats. The projection was made on the basis of a survey of local government units and data submitted by county of« ficials. Governor Thompson asked the department to conduct' the survey to determine how next year's real estate tax bills would be affected by 1) the abolition of the corporate personal property tax which reduced the property tax base of local taxing (.districts by an average ol l percent, 2) increased local spending and :5) rapidly rising real estate market values. The survey projected real property extensions would be ap proximately $4.3 billion for 1980, an increase of $495 million from 1979 extensions of $3.8 billion.
