Father Vincent Fish, coordinator for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in McHenry, peruses one of his spiritual books. Another of his collection, "The Prophet of Unity", was written by two monks from the Order of the Society of Atonement It deals with the life and j work of their founder, the Rev. Father Paul Wattson (later known as Father Paul James Francis). As a child. As presented by Alderman Pepping, chairman of die Finance committee, the proposal would give City employees 2 percent pay raises at the end of it years, 10 years, 15 years and 20 years service-as long as finances permit. A new traffic sign will be seen along McHenry township streets and roads this winter because of an ordinance implemented this winter to clear the streets so that the snow plows can go through. These signs will be posted at the entrances to virtually all township- maintained subdivision streets and roads, and at other locations as well. The signs state "Snow route-no parking after 2 inch snowfall or more until removal is completed. Vehicles will be towed." A projected increase in revenue totaling $140,000 will result from action taken at a recent McHenry County board meeting. The action involved increasing fees applicable to the county's building ordinance, health laws and the zoning or­ dinances. A committee is checking into increasing charges for liquor licenses. Concurrence with District 15 on $10,000 worth of im­ provements for leased bus lot facilities at Sherman Hill was expressed by the board of education of High school District 156 at its regular meeting. Costs of the im­ provement will be shared equally between the two school districts. The proposed work consists of improving a second story driver ready room, including ac<fcs with a new modern stsumvay, and installation of electrical lines for outside security lights to protect the parked busses and plug-ins for bus engine heaters. Low bidders were Janik Con­ struction, McHenry, at $2,290.93 for the carpenter work, and Laser Electric Corp., Wonder Lake, sole bidder at $7,475 for the electrical work. The various township assessments for the quadrennial year of 1979 was printed in the Plaindealer. Evening service on RTA Bus Route No. 809 will be discontinued Dec. 1 because of low ridership. The route for No. 809 has been from McHenry to Crystal Lake and Woodstock. . DECEMBER McHenry county mayors voted approval for a list of proposed road projects designed to use federal and state money originally earmarked,.! for the Crosstown Expressway in Chicago, but freed for other use by agreement between Governor Thompson and Mayor Byrne. The projects covering major arterial i m p r o v e m e n t s w e r e scheduled for completion over the next four years, through 1983, and will be funded by the county's portion of about $1 billion expressway money and from •other federal interstate t r a n s f e r p r o g r a m s .
