Cardella drove his MG Midget to victory in Class "A" with a time of 59:53; In Class *'B" competition, it was a tight battle between Gaylord in an MGB and Dick Fournier of Crystal Lake in an Opel, with Gaylord edging him out by a hun dredth of a second with a time of 58:47. Shooting a steady 89 for 18 holes helped proclaim Carol Cooney the "winner and still champion" of the women of McHenry Gountry club as play concluded the three- week Club and Class championship tournament. Carol posted a total of 278 gross while Joanie Buss posted a net of 233 to give her the win for low net cham pionship in Class A. In a real ding-dong battle lor the McHenry Country club championship, Ed Buss regained the title which he has won for about a dozen years, eleven years before relinquishing the crown to Art Jackson for some eight years. Starting what was planned as the last 18 holes of the match. Buss was l-up <>n Jackson. When they finished the 18 holes they were tied. It was decided to plav another nine holes to settle the issue without delay. It was nip and tuck all the way...and it was still a tie. Now it was a sudden death game. On No. 12 it came to an end after the two leaders had played 30 holes of the final day to determine the championship. A repeat performance by the women of the traveling golf team of McHenry Country club brought them the glory of being the win ners in their division play-off held recently at Village Links in Lamont.
