Kennebeck was escort&d down the aisle of St. Mary of the Assump­ tion church, McHenry, Saturday, Feb. 2, by her Godfather, Earl Holm, Woodstock, \ who was married the same day, thirty-four years ago. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Marion T. Nelson and the late Charles W. Nelson, 3908 W. West avenue, McHenry. She exchanged solemn promises of marriage with Joseph J. La Varra, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel La Varra, 507 N. Green street, McHenry. Reverend James G. Gaynor officiated at the 2:30 p.m. ceremony and special selections were offered by Craig Spengel and organist, Celeste Mann. The bride chose a high fashion A-line gown with an empire silhouette fashioned of silk quiana, accented by silk Venice lace. Her fitted bodice featured a Queen Anne neckline and long fitted sleeves, both adorned with lace appliques. Venice lace edged the hemline of her gown and sweeping train. A short mantilla was secured by a silk Venice Camelot headpiece. She carried a cascade of white roses, ivy and baby's breath. Cynthia Brodin, Wonder Lake, the bride's sister, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Leanne Nelson, sister of the bride and Marilyn La Varra, sister of the groom, both of McHenry. Attendants were attired in two-piece, wine colored gowns, accented with drawstring shoulders on a short disco dress over a long skirt. The dresses were fashioned of a silk finish trilobal knit with V-neck, a gathered waist side closure and fabric belt. c They carried bouquets of elegance carnations and chrysan: themums'dyed to match the gowns. Phil Hottinger, Warren- ville, 111., performed the duties-^ of best man. G r o o m s m e n w e r e Christopher Kennebeck, McHenry, brother of the bride and Harry O'Dell, Wonder Lake. Ushers were David Kennebeck, Wonder Lake, brother of the bride and Michael La Varra, McHenry, brother aof the groom. The mother of the bride chose a tworpiece, deep rose, %treet length dress, and a jewel neck, dusty lilac, street length dress was the choice of the , groom's mother. A reception for 250 guests was held at the American Legion hall, McHenry. The couple will be residing in a new home at Wonder Lake. The bride is a 1972 graduate of Marian Central Catholic high school in Woodstock. The groom graduated from Senn high school, in Chicago, in 1970. The bride and groom are both employed at Brake Parts company, McHenry. She is a Personnel ad­ ministrator and he is a Quality Control Foreman. All silk flowers and arrangements for hair pieces, corsages, bouton- nieres and the extra bouquet were made by the bride. They will both Join hundreds of participants and spectators at the 1980 Easter Seal-WXRD Dance-A-Thon. All systems are GO for the third annual Easter Seal- WXRD Dance-a-thon to be held Feb. 9 and 10 at the Woodstoek high school. Area dancers who have registered to participate are out securing pledges, Easter Seal staff and volunteers are making arrangements for food and entertainment, and WXRD Disc Jockey Michael Lavelle, who will host the event, is getting extra sleep in anticipation of the 24-hour marathon. Entertainers from the Cary Grove high school Swing Choir, the Streakettes of Woodstock high school, Cathy Callahan's Dance Group of Woodstock high school, and a YMCA Karate class will be performing at various times during the dance-a-thon. Last year the McHenry Easter Seal Dance-a-thon was second in the nation for amount of funds raised. With all preparations under way, the dedication of the dan­ cers, Easter Seal staff and volunteers, this dance-a-thon promises to be - an un­ forgettable experience. The public is urged to mark calendars to include a trip to the Woodstock high school anytime between 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb, 10. The dancers appreciate e n c o u r a g e m e n t a n d everyone will get a glimpse of the concerned youth of McHenry County.
