The meeting will be held Friday, March 21, 8:30 p.m. at the American Legion hall, Oak and Woodstock streets in Crystal Lake. Election Of Officers Election of officers and the final round of the card tournament will take place at the regular meeting of St. Agatha No. 777, of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. The meeting will be held March 18, 7:30 p.m. in the Johnsburg Community Club hall. Stretch Food Dollars A program intended to help senior citizens stretch their food dollars is planned by the McHenry County Farm Bureau Women's committee March 17 at the Farm Bureau building in Woodstock. Mrs. Nancy Moore, McHenry County Extension Adviser, will demonstrate an easy way to make and freeze meat loaf and how to change the flavor with spices and-or sauces. "It can be a different meal each time," she ex­ claims. Mrs. Moore will show how to select the best leanest and most flavorful cuts for low budgets and a slide film on nutrition will be included. The program will start at 9:30 a.m., a community service of Farm Bureau, with no admission charge. Farm Bureau Women's committee members will give recipes that make servings for one or tWo people, in addition to the meat loaf recipe. "If you are interested in good nutrition with flavor and variety on a small budget, this is a good meeting to attend," says Mrs. Carolyn Lillegard, Farm Bureau Women's committee chairman. By Pearl Cooper Approximately one hundred members, and guests were present at the annual Membership Dinner of the McHenry Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary to see the presentation of 'honor guard' pins. Thirty-five year mem­ bership pins were awarded to Eleanor Althoff, Lillian Bolger, Teresa Cairns, Lenore Cooley, Elvera Durland, Delia Freund, Mary Freund, Vera Hensley, Ercel Lock, Minnie Meyer, Signa Miller, Isabelle Thompson, Catherine Weber and Lura Yanda. Lillian Braidwood and Anna Thennes received thrity-year pins. Twenty-five year pins were given to Bonnie Amore, Veronica Boysen, Adele Butler, Eleanor Creutz, Dorothy Diedrich, Victricia Diedrich, Ilaverne Gregory, Maria Guettler, Laurene McDonough, Loretta Meyer, Mary Ann Neuman, Mary Nolan and Marilyn Phalin. Helen Birmingham, Margaret Birmingham, Dorothy Hay, Evelyn Hay, Dorothy Hollander, Janet Lloyd, Edna Mueller, Deborah Pickett, Agnes Schaefer, and Betty Lou Smith all received twenty year pins. Membership chairman, Mrs. Richard (Lyda) Fenner, was in charge of the dinner and awarded the Membership committee with gifts of Jade plants, the Department Theme for the 1979-80 year. Those on the Membership committee were Marge Hartung, Reba Owen, Adele Butler, Lorraine Freund, Alyce Brda, Arlys Aim, Margaret Pickett, Catherine Edstrom, Margaret Datz and Midge Schairf. Membership in the Unit stands at 364,with 396 Senior members and 59 Junior members. The Unit is still 8 members short of being 100 percent. The gals were congratulated for a 'job well done'. , A Junior Graduation ceremony was conducted by the officers of the Unit and Mary Beth Barry, Dawn Latimer, Christine Lenz and Patricia Paulin, having attained the age of eighteen, are now members of the Senior Auxiliary. The dinner was prepared and served by the members of the McHenry Rifle Squad with Bernie Matchen, Howie Paulin and Ed Reid in charge of the cooking. W.L. Seniors Hold Election The Wonder Lake Senior Citizens will hold their an­ nual election of officers meeting at the Nativity Lutheran church Monday, March 17. Blood pressure tests will precede the meeting and a Senior Walk-In Meals are served Monday through Friday at the McHenry Walk-In center beginning at 11:45 a.m. Reservations must be made by 1:30 the day before at 385- 8260. The menu for the week of March 17 through March 21 is as follows: March 17: Boiled smoked butt and cabbage, boiled potatoes and carrots, rye bread, Irish Mist tarts, milk. - THE LUCK OTHE IRISH. March 18: Baked meat loaf, mashed winter squash, diced beets, rolls, oranges, milk, March 19: Beef chop suey, San Francisco rice and noodles, mixed vegetables, bread, chocolate cake. milk. March 20: SPRING INTO SPRING - Baked chicken, mashed potatoes, copper penny carrots, corn bread, fruity jello, milk.
