Deaths MILDRED M. MANN Mildred M. Mann, 3709 W. Bull Valley road, McHenry, died Wednesday, March 26, at McHenry hospital. She was 77, born in Osceola, Mo., March 4, 1903, the daughter of Mr. and Mr. William Hicks. Mrs. Mann lived in the McHenry area about 25 years, having come from Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Mann, Sr., July 7, 1468. Survivors include a (laughter, Mrs. Angeline Welter of Grayslake, 111.; tw6 sons, Anthony of Lock- port, 111. and George Of Johnsburg; nine grand­ children and one great grandchild; also a sister, Mrs. Nellie Osborn of Centerville, South Dak. Her parents; a son, James A. Mann, Jr. and ten brothers and sisters alfco preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held by Reverend Eric Snyder of the Faith P re sby te r i an chu rch Saturday, 11 a.m. at the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home with burial in Wood land ceme te ry , McHenry. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday. JOSEPH J. KLAPPERICH A lifelong resident of the area, Joseph J. Klapperich, of 1112 W. May avenue, McHenry, died Wednesday morning, March 26, in McHenry hospital. He was 83 years old, born in John­ sburg Oct. 26,1896, to Henry and Mary Freund. Mr. Klapperich was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic church, and had been a farmer in the McHenry-Johnsburg area-all his life. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Clara Miller and Mrs. Rose Weber, both of West Allis, Wis., and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic church, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m., at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home. I960 Hold Stop- -Smoking Clinic One Injured In Three-Car Crash The Du-Page-McHenry Lung association will be holding a Stop-Smoking clinic at McHenry hospital in coope ra t i on wi th t he McHenry Hosptial Outreach program. The clinic will consist of six sessions starting at 7:30 p.m. April 7, 9, 14, 16, 22 and 23. Harold Wimmer, program director for the Lung association, said, "The clinic does not focus on scare INOVCMTfOR FOOD By G0UL0 CROOK tactics or offer a lot of statistical information. We assume that people who come to the clinic already know that smoking is dangerous to their health. Rather, the clinic focuses on how to quit smoking." The clinic program is based on the idea that smoking is a learned habit. Quitting, then, is a process which individuals must unlearn and substitute in its place healthy new alter­ natives. During the sessions, different techniques will be introduced to help make this process less stressful for the individual. Bernard G. Miller, M.D., McHenry, will serve as medical advisor and speak on the medical aspects of smok ing du r ing the f i f t h session. John Tyshenko, of Lake Geneva, Wis., was taken by the Johnsburg Rescue squad to McHenry hospital before a statement could be taken. David M. Ramsey, of Antioch, told police he was stopped facing north at the intersection of Route 12 and Wilmot road, looked and pulled out. As his car entered the intersection, it was struck by the Tyshenko vehicle. The Tyshenko vehicle then struck another auto, which was facing south at the in­ tersection. The auto was driven by Richard A. Britt, Jr., of 4312 Riverdale, McHenry. Ramsey was ticketed byv Sheriff's police for failure to y ie ld t he r igh t -o f -way a t ° a stop or intersection. Tyshenko was treated and released from McHenry hospital. Amparo R. Garza, of 7417 South street, Wonder Lake, was ticketed by McHenry police for disobeying a red light at the intersection of Elm and Front streets. A car driven by Darlene V. Michelsen, of 817 N. Center street, McHenry, had pulled into the intersection after the light turned green, when it was struck by the Garza vehicle. William D. Dowell said he was unable to avoid the collision. The other auto, driven by William Walker, of Crystal Lake, was slowing to turn into the bowling alley parking lot. The police were unable to determine whether the turn signal of the Walker auto was on. • * * • If adults set the proper example, it might be pos­ sible for young people to follow their lead. DEVILED PORK CHOPS 4 rib pork chops, cut '/« inch thick • ! 4 tablespoons catsup 2 tablespoons vinegar 2 tablespoons grated onion V* teaspoon dry mustard 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 1 / 8 teaspoon curry powder Vi teaspoon salt V* teaspoon paprika Vt cup hot water Place the chops in a frying pan and set aside. Combine the catsup, vinegar, grated onion, mutfard, Worcestershire sauce, curry, salt and paprika to make a paste. Spread this over both sides of the pork chops. Cook slowly over a low heat for 30 minutes. Start the oven and set at 350° F. Pour the hot water around the chops and bake in the skillet for about 1 hour. Baste every 10 minutes with the liquid in the skil- let.
