Spring Rummage sale is all set for • Thursday, April 10, from 8 .m. .m 8 p.m.; Friday, April 11, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, April 12, from 8 a.m. to noon, in the new Fellowship hall of the First United Methodist church. Coffee and donuts will be available at nominal prices so that customers can shop and enjoy a coffee break too. Because of the rummage sale, members will be unable to accept the in-» vitation for Luncheon April 10 from the Ringwood U.M.W. Church Women United May Fellowship day will be Friday, May 2, with a salad buffet at noon, at the Zi'on Lutheran church. "Mother Faces Drug Abuse" is the program scheduled for June , 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Mount Hope Methodist church. The Northern Illinois C o n f e r e n c e U n i t e d Methodist Church Women's Retreat, "Umbrellas of our Faith" will be held at Rock- ford'college, April 19 and 20. Bertha Stange, chairman of the Spring Tea-and Book Review Wednesday, April 23 at 1 p.m. in the church sanctuary, reports that tickets have been mailed to all women of the congregation. Marcia Mary Bell May 15. The U.M.W. General Meeting April 17 will begin with a potluck luncheon at noon in the new Fellowship hall, with Ruth Circle as hostesses. Rev. Maynard Beal, Director of Urban Work, Rockford district, and Assistant Dean of School of Missions, will be gu&t speaker. His topic is "The Future of Human Rights in the 1980's." Reverend Beal will be speaking from experience of extensive travel around the. world. He is a dynamic and interesting speaker. Sunday, April 13 is "Consecration Service", d a y , w i t h a v e r y f i n e program and open house planned for 4 p.m., including many prominent guests participating in the service. Plans are progressing quite well for the potluck dinner Thursday, May 15, honoring Rev. Marcia Mary Bell, who will be on leave from Rhodesia, but ex­ pecting to return there when her leave is over. She will present a program regar­ ding her experiences and work in Rhodesia. The next meeting of the U.M.W. Mission Team will be Monday, May 5, at 9 a.m. in the church parlor. Special Service Slated When a new United Methodist church is finished, there is a special service called "The Service of Consecration" that a congregation participates in t o o f f i c i a l l y m a k e t h e building a house of worship. The Consecration Service at the First United Methodist church, 3717 W. Main street, McHenry, will be held the first Sunday after Easter, April 13, at 4 p.m. The Bell Choir will play their bells; the Chancel Choir will sing, and the Heavenly Hosts and Joyful Noises will add their voices in celebration of the oc­ casion. Members of the com­ munity will be invited to share the joy for this oc­ casion and numerous pastors from other congregations will take part in the worship service. An open house will be held following the hour of wor­ ship, and the United Methodist Women will serve refreshments. Church Honors Member | Community (a le t idar MRS. GrMfi St. S44.MH Mrs. Hansen, who celebrated her 83rd birthday recently, became a per­ manent resident of Wonder Lake in 1941 when she moved there with her husband, Fred Hansen, now deceased. She has three children and is the proud grandmother of thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, as well as other children of Nativity who all know her as "Grandma". The large family that gathered for pictures after the ceremony included Mr. and Mrs. George Sorenson. Ernie Vogt. Mr. and Mrs. Muss Hansen. Pancake Breakfast Underwriters Flip" For County Disabled Insurance men and women don aprons, take over the kitchen, staff the tables and serve pancakes Sunday, April 13. That's the day the McHenry County Life Un­ derwriters association is sponsoring a benefit to raise funds for the McHenry County Association for the Retarded. The pancake breakfast w i l l b e s e r v e d a t t h e Woodstock Moose lodge, located on Clay street in Woodstock, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds will go to the eounty-wide agency established to help the developmentally disabled and mentally ill, reports Nancy Olson, Crystal Lake, president of the Life Un­ derwriters "association. Juice, milk, link sausage, coffee and what Mrs. Olson describes as "great pan­ cakes" will be included in the breakfast. Traditionally, events of this type attract a family crowd, and last year's first pancake breakfast was a success, raising a sizable amount to assist the Pioneer center in its programs of. specialized services. Tickets will be available at the door. On the committee with Mrs. Olson are Tony Fick, Jim Longhway, Charlotte Pepper, Bob Lafever and Donna Bradshaw. The Spring break for Ruth Snyder from Bradley university, Peoria, 111. was spent at her home with guests Deirdra Kogan, Long Island, New York; Melinda Einfalt, Des Plaines, HI. and Fred Clairmont, Somonauk, 111., celebrating Fred's birthday. Lee Snyder visited his parents' home with guest, Pam Ulisano of Chicago. Both are students at dePaul university, Chicago. Mark Snyder relaxed from his studies at the University of Illinois, Champaign, with camping and visiting at his parents' home. Erickson. Dr. Erickson, who resides in Chicago, is a research chemist, business advisor and prominent speaker. Music for the evening will be provided by John and Sandy Meyer of Crystal Lake, all centered about the theme of "Picture a Lovely Evening".
