'Atlantic City II Versatile McHenry county entertainer, Virginia Zymonas, returns to the Hurricane Happening with a new nightclub act. Continuous shows will run throughout the evenings of April 11, 12, 18 and 19. The general theme for this year's "Hurricane Hap­ pening" is Atlantic City". The event, set for April 11, 12, 18 and 19, is an inflation- fighter, offering ten night­ clubs for one admission price. The annual fund raiser for Marian Central high school in Woodstock brings together actors, singers, and musicians in continuous shows throughout the evening on two con­ secutive weekends. Planning for the yearly event begins in the fall with the selection of a theme and a coordinating committee composed of faculty members and parents. American Bandstand, chairmen: Tom and Mary Beth Smith. "America's oldest teenager" will host Marian's version of this popular dance show. The spotlight dance, rate-a- record, and the American top ten, familiar to rock 'n' roll fans, will be featured and a special appearance by the "Everly Brothers" will highlight the evening. The Boardwalk: Dancing to the big band sounds of Rich Mikus and Friends is the Boardwalk's feature. Music old and new, a roomy dance floor surrounded by cocktail tables, and con­ tinuous bar service give this room a special character. Broadway Memories, chairmen: Rich and' Mary Yager. Broadway musical hits tyill be featured in two shows on Atlantic City's boardwalk. The first skit will include songs and piano stylings reminiscent of the past. Popular guitarist Bill Cingrone and Hurricane's "Barbra Streisand", Lori Merrill, will head the cast of the second show with music of today. Convention Hall, chair­ woman: Patti Parsley. "It Pays to be Political", an original satire by writer Art Thorson, will take a look at contenders for this year's upcoming election. In an interview format, leading "candidates" will match wits (or half-wits) to solve problems about which they all-too-obviously know little. Lady Luck Casino: Soloist Virginia Zymonas returns to the Hurricane Happening with a cabaret act that in­ cludes impressions and song stylings backed by a combo. Jazmvn, chairmen: The McCabe Family. A carnival decor, cocktails, and pop­ corn, are offered in this show lounge. Singing trio Kathy Bruhnke, Helen Morgan, and Diane Woodruff entertain with old standards and new favorites. Jubilation Disco, chair­ woman: Heather Tyrrell. Flashing lights and the latest music give disco fans a Chance to show off their dance styles. - Pier One, chairmen: Bernie and Marge Rickert, John and Judi Wett. Qn the beach at Atlantic . City the "Andrews Sisters" make their entrance from a bathhouse and perform their hit songs from the pier. General admission tickets to the Hurricane Happening are available by calling the school or they can be pur­ chased at the door. Food and beverage tickets will be available for purchase throughout the Hurricane Happening evenings, and ample free parking is available on the school grounds. I Political Corner j Yates Named To Head Democratic Committee Monty Yates, chairman of the McHenry County Democratic Central com­ mittee, reported this week on highlights of the bi-annual county convention held in Woodstock. State Rep. Thomas Hanahan presided at the convention, at which the following officers were elected: chairman, Monty Yates, McCullom Lake; vice chairman, Marty Gallagher, Marengo; secretary, Diane Veeneman, Cary; treasurer, Lyle Desmond, Woodstock; and sergeant-at-arms, Pete Hellios, Wonder Lake. The Democratic State Convention for which delegates were elected will re-convene April 24 in Springfield to begin work on the State's Democratic Platform and the election of Illinois' remaining delegates WEDNESDAY.
