Wooded lane, McHenry, is a member of the 9lst Strategic Missile wing, winner of the Charles D. Trail award at Minot Air Force base, Minot, N. Dak. The award Was given to the unit in recognition of its super io r log i s t i c s achievements during 1979. His wife, Cindy, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mitchell of 2205 Mill lane, McHenry. Airman Hegner ft a 1975 graduate of McHenry Community high school. Lackland Air Force base, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community college of the Air Force. Cristy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay W. Cristy of Wonder Lake, has completed Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force base, San Antonio, Tex. During the six weeks at Lacklan'd, the. airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. The airman will now begin on-the-job training in the engineering scientist field at Tyndall Air Force base, Fla. Airman Cristy is a 1976 graduate of Marian Central Catholic high school, Woodstock. Airman Chris Northu0, son of Betty M. Taylor of 1425 Nokomis trail, McHenry , has been assigned to Sheppard Air Froce base, Texas, after completing Air Force basic training. During the six weeks at Mrs. Edward Aweve is shown with Carol Grosser and Kathy Rasmussen, East campufc students selected to attend summer Journalism workshops. Mrs. Aweve was a member of th^ committee that made the selection. STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD The Maralyn Levens Scholarship committee has announced its selection of two East campus sophomores to attend summer journa l i sm workshops. Cathy Crasser, daughter of Mrs. Connie Hoffman, 1209 Sunset, McHenry, and Kathy Rasmussen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Rasmussen, 205 Hickory Terrace, Island Lake, will attend one-week journalism workshops in July at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater. As both girls will be working on the school yearbook as juniors, they will benefit from their workshop experience. The scholarship honors Mrs. Maralyn Levens, an East campus English teacher who lost her life in an automobile accident in Non-Credit Courses Offered At College February, 1978. Mrs. Levens once sponsored the East Campus newspaper. In her memory, friends and relatives established this scholarship program so that students could expand their journalism skills. Committee members who annually select winners are Mrs. Robert Swartzloff, Mrs. Gloria Burke, Mrs. Edward Aweve and James Blum, all friends and colleagues of Mrs. Levens.
