LADIES SODALITY LUNCHEON Members of the Ladies Sodality of Christ the King church were treated to a wonderful luncheon June 12 at a local restaurant. It was an appreciation luncheon to all members in good stan ding. Guest speaker was the president of the Rockford Diocese DCCW who lives in DeKalb. She explained the structure of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women- and encouraged more women from the parish to become involved. It was a delightful af ternoon for all who attended. The next meeting of the sodality will be the annual picnic held in August. OVERHEARD AROUND THE TABLE Even though there is the constant reminder heard "To be careful what you say, it might make the McHenry Plaindealer", when I'm in a group of people, I do manage to hear a few things! Many little tidbits are heard when you socialize with a group of lively, interesting women from the community. Some such tidbits were that Wallie O'Brien got through the busy telephone lines and was able to talk to Wally Phillips on his mor ning show. It only took her fifteen minutes and she was "on the air". She says he ran RMSEtfwc t hp p ro fess iona l do - i t - yourse l f ca rpe t c lean ing / s tem First Hour of Rentol $1 00 per hour for every hour thereafter Example 2 hours *o«ol charge Si plus ta* NO MINIMUM Special Rental Rate Good Monday thru Thursday 1 SUM l iMW OVftNlGxt • OQPM « 00 A v *10 OC H0HNS8Y 5 sounds just the same over the phone! Just for calling, Wallie received a gift of dinner for two. Heard that Jack Mc- Cafferty is in the hospital undergoing some tests. . Everyone knows Jack from all his work with the Co. I Fire Dept. Hope Jack is feeling better by the time this column is read. The Peklos had a won derful time entertaining the" Poor Man's Gourmet club Sunday, June 8. Seems like Ralph Diedrich-s unusual swim suit was the hit of the day! Not only the children enjoyed swimming, but also some of the men. This bit of information I saw with my own eyes. Mark Jinga hit a grand-slam home-run, helping his team, the yankees, win their game with the Tigers, June 12. Chuck and Theresa Jinga were very proud parents that night watching their son who played an excellent game.
