Not only is it important for voting purposes, but many other things regarding Wonder Lake are determined by the registered voters. As of the primary election, Wonder Lake has a voting population of 3,487. This does not represent our population correctly because in ihe Wonder Center subdivision alone, 778 mail boxes are serviced by ihe Wonder Lake Post Office. Let's get a campaign going among ourselves to gel as many of our residents registered as possible. Ask your neighbors, friends, and relatives. Sometimes registering is forgotten until the voting lime rolls around, but then it's too late. You must be registered a month before the election takes place. Many of our residents are registrars and can take care of you in their homes, so you won't even have to take a trip to the courthouse. 128th ANNUAL GOLF OPEN That's right folks -- 128th annual Wonder Lake Golf Open. When you have two guys by the names of Bill Fitzgerald and Joe Sullivan organizing something, you didn't expect it to follow the normal first, second, or third annual did you? When this was started, several years ago, they didn't want a first annual, so picked a number and have been working up ever since. This year, the festivities will take place on Thursday, Aug. 14, with tee-off time starting at 8 a.m. Foresomes will go off eveyy eight minutes. First prize is a weekend for two at the Sheraton O'Hare. Closest to the pin on the fourth hole will be a "fantastic mystery car". The longest drive on the 13th hole will be a dinner for two at a Wonder Lake restaurant There will also be many more prizes awarded for other special categories. Included in your ticket are 18 holes of golf, a brat or hot dog on the course, dinner, drinks, and prizes. In July, the screening date is Monday, July 21 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The location on Wonder Lake road has public transportation every hour. The meal program is served five days a week with additional services and programs available at the site to all seniors. Reser­ vations for meals can be made by calling 653-7731 before 1:30 p.m. on the preceding day.
