PAGE 24 -PLA1NDEALER- WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6, 1980 Wonder Lake Anne Sowers 653-9549 Schools Will Register Soon It seems like only yesterday, that kids were counting the days before summer vacation started and now we have the final count-down before the beginning of a new school year. The first step that has to be taken is registering. District 200 Will hold registration, Thursday, Aug. 14 in all the schools. Harrison school will be registering Monday, Aug. 18. An important thing to remember if you have a child entering kindergarten, fifth, or ninth grade, is to bring the completed physical forms from your doctor and dentist with you on registration day. There is a state law prohibiting ad mittance to school without these proofs of the proper checkups. The first day of school for Marian Central is Monday, Aug. 25, and Wed., Aug. 27 for both District 200 and Harrison school. These summer days certainly went by quickly! CELEBRATE FIFTY-THIRD ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. John Dyck, parents of Dolores Wines, recently celebrated their f i f t y - t h i r d w e d d i n g anniversary. A dinner and party was held at the HiUcrest Nursing home in Twin Lakes, Wis., where Mrs. Dyck is a resident. On the fourth of July, Mrs. Dyck celebrated her seventy-fourth birthday by celebrating with her family, w"ho took her out for dinner. Mr. Dyck celebrated his seventy-seventh birthday on July 24, with a dinner party in the home of his daughter Dolores, with whom he resides. Joining him were his grandchildren and some close friends of the family. This has been a busy and happy time for the Dycks. Congratulations on all your special events! LADIES SODALITY PICNIC The Ladies Sodality of Christ the King church will hold its annual picnic on Thursday, Aug. 14, at the home of Addie Peklo, 5503 E., Lake Shore drive. Mrs. Viola Rockowitz, the newly elected president, will conduct a small business meeting, but the rest of the time will be spent socializing, and enjoying the food and beautiful view of Wonder Lake from Addie's front yard. COMMUNITY CALENDAR With Labor day right around the corner, and all the Fall and Winter events being planned, don't forget that the Woman's club of Wonder Lake can be of great service to you. They handle a Community Calendar on which all the different functions are listed. If you are planning a special event, all you have to do is call me it 653-9549, and I can tell you if anyone has chosen that same date for some other event. So many times we would like to support different organizations, but have to decide which event to go to because there are two things happening on the same date. Then again we sit home for weeks with nothing to do. We already have dates filled as far as November and December on the calendar, so it has been working. Give a call and have your event listed. NATIVITY LUTHERAN CHURCH Vacation Church School will be held Aug. 11-15. If you have not registered your children, you are asked to do so as soon as possible. An eventful week is being planned for the children. A campout for the older children and a cookout are tentatively being planned There is also a need for assistant teachers, helpers, and refreshment volunteers. AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD Since it was such a nice warm evening and believe it or not, no bugs, I decided to write my column while sitting on the front porch. I should have been doing this all summer. I saw Skip Mieling puffing down the street on his ten speed. I remember when we were all many years younger, riding a regular bike without the help of ten speeds, wouldn't have made him puff! Then along came Buzz Schert on a Mo-ped. He sure looked proud on top of that shiny machine! My next door neighbor, Dan Rizzo, came out to show off one of his bumper crop cucumbers - that was one of the biggest ones I've ever seoi!
