Aaix-year old boy atows away on a moving van driven Willie Nelson performed recently at Gilley's Club for the first time in four years. An estimated 6,000 Willie fans packed the 'ole joint' in Pasadena, Texas. But 24 hours earlier a whole different scene took place. Willie booked Gilley's Recording Studio and laid down 11 tracks from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Then he cut four more the day of his appear ance at Gilley's Club. Willie cut the tracks with a friend named Freddie Powers, who leads a Dixieland band at the El Dorado Club in Reno. In addition to guitarist- vocalist Powers, other mu sicians on the session includ ed guitarist-pianist Bucky Meadows, mandolinist Paul Buskirk, bassist Dean Rey nolds and Johnny GlmMe. The songs cut were easy going versions of 'Who's Sorry Now,' 'I'm Confessin',' 'Lonesome Road,' 'Be Hon est With Me.' 'Time Changes Everything,' 'It Wouldn't Be the Same Without You,' 'Lit tle Red Wagon,' 'I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter,' and 'After You've Gonq.' It is not certain when this album will be released. • With all the Willie Nelson products on the market, a lot of readers have inquired about the 'original recording' of Willie's Night Life' and 'Rainy Day Blues.' Some radio stations are apparently pulling these two cuts off an okf Nelson LP and programming them as 'new' records. The cuts are old but are still new' to the public. Both Willie's 'first original' recording of 'Night Life' and 'Rainy Day Blues' are on the Willie Nelson Longhorn Jamboree LP with four other Nelson originals, plus Jerry lee Lewie, David Allen Coe. and Carl Perkins. And for all the fans who have asked, this Willie Nelson collectors item is available on LP. eight track and cassette for $7.95 from Southridge Music, 2231 Hough Road, Florence. Alabama, 35630.
