Church members will be on hand from 9 until 5 to help unload prepared recycling materials from automobiles and get them ready for the next step toward being made into useful products again. Recylcers were notified in both July and August that this would be happening by September. Since magazines, card board, mail,, etc., when mixed together, are used in the manufacture of roofing shingles and tar paper, with the slowdown in the building Chicago. The new baby was welcomed home by a brother, Michael, 2, and a sister, Shannon, 1. industry, there is no market for it at present. The McHenry County Defenders' 40-foot semi-trailer still holds the mixed papers brought to both the July and August drives. Once these are sold or given to a com pany willing to use them, probably corrugated card board will be accepted for recycling in McHenry in addition to the regular newspaper, glass, cans, aluminum and oil. ' Magazines and ad vertising mail will need to be disposed of through the individual homeowners' regular disposal channels.. There are well over 1,000 families in McHenry that make recycling a part of their daily lives. Over 500 tons of material, primarily newspapers, are saved from landfill each year through the monthly recycling drive held at the Market Place, the bi-monthly paper drive held at Shepherd of the Hills church and the annual drive held in Johnsburg by the Junior high school. Anyone having questions regarding the preparation of materials for recycling or any other questions regarding recycling, should call the McHenry County Defenders representative at 385-8512. Set Hearing On Zoning Amendments There will be a public hearing on the general amendments to the McHenry county zoning ordinance Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. The hearing will be held in County board room 203 at the McHenry county courthouse, 2200 N. Seminary avenue, Woodstock. Some of the amendments contemplated include a Conditional Use to allow for the clustering of residential units, definitions and clarification of wording.
