Don Peasley Photography Orientation Night For Johnsburg District Parents At the onset of the new 1980-81 school year, John sburg School District 12 is again sponsoring orientation nights for parents of District 12 students. These orientation sessions are a great help to parents and teachers alike, as they afford the opportunity at the beginning of the school year for ideas, rules and regulations, philosophies, teaching styles and acquaintanceship to be shared between ad ministrators, teachers and parents. According to James C. Bush and Ringwood school's principal, Harry May, "The primary objective of the orientation nights is to give parents the opportunity to meet with their child's teacher immediately at the beginning of the new school year to view the classroom organization and to know the expectations of the teacher for that child enabling the parent and teacher, along with the child, to work toward that mutual goal." Also, to be included this year, as part of the orien tation, will be a slide and narrative presentation sponsored by the Johnsburg P.T.O. and a brief in troduction to the goals and accomplishments hoping to be achieved this current school year through the many different activities and fund raisers undertaken by the P.T.O. This presen tation will also briefly acquaint parents with Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) that will begin Monday evening, Oct. 20, 1980. More information on these special seminars will be forthcoming. The fourth-fifth grade orientation night originally scheduled for Wednesday evening, Sept. 17, has been rescheduled for the week of Nov. 16, during American Education week. This will be hosted by Mrs. Pat Bingman, principal, and will be held at the Middle school. Another was scheduled for Bush school second grade Sept. 18. Kindergarten orientation will be Tuesday evening, Sept. 30 Harry May, principal, will host orientation nights for individual grade levels on the following evenings: Ringwood school, first grade, Monday, Sept. 22; third grade, Wednesday, Sept. 24; and 4th-5th grade, Thursday, Sept. 25. Jim Van Bosch, principal, hosted an orientation night for all sixth grade and new students entering Johnsburg Junior high before the school year began Wednesday evening, Aug. 27. This is a year of celebration for the people of the Wonder Lake Bible church. Earlier this year the congregation marked the twenty-fifth anniversary oi Pastor Wright's arrival by sending him on a trip to the Holy Land and having a reception in his honor for friends from the community during the month of July. Now, plans are being made to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the formal organization of thp congregation. An all day observance is being planned for Sunday, Oct. 5. The various committees involved are meeting to finalize plans for this occasion, which will be marked by a time of remembering the past, enjoying each other's fellowship in the present and looking forward to the challenge of the future. In addition to the plans for the Oct. 5th celebration, the Sunday school is planning its Rally day and balloon lift-off Sunday, Sept. 28.Classes will meet briefly and then everyone will go outside to release hundreds of helium- filled balloons with cards attached.
