Tree Trimming I Senior Hot Opens Season Legal Notice STATE OF ILLINOIS ) In spite of Easter-like weather, the Country Christmas Tree trimming ceremony proceeded on schedule Saturday, Dec. 6, at 3 p.m. CaroUers from Johns burg Junior high school provided background sounds while tots, as well as teens, ladened the beautiful blue spruce with ornaments of every description. Bill Oeffling was among the top hatted tree trimmers and John Huemann, president of the Chamber of Commerce, topped the tree with a large golden star hand crafted by Erik Olsen. A spontaneous "aahhh" arose from the crowd as over 800 tiny colored lights brought the creation to holiday heights and drew applause from the crowd. Miss McHenry contestant, Tammy Powers, assisted Marine Sgt. Don Cox in receiving the donations for the "Toys for Tots" program. The U.S. Marine corps and the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce recognized everyone for their t h o u g h t f u l n e s s a n d generosity, but especially pointed to a contingency of corpsmen from the Wood stock Armory. Three representatives of Company A of the 131st Infantry division brought an entire car load of toys and clothing last Saturday. The two barrels provided for the collection were but a frac tion of the space needed to contain all the donations. A surprise occurrence delighted young and old alike. Mrs. Claus arrived at the event in Santa's sleigh drawn by four coachmen in green waistcoats. She and the coachmen distributed treats as they chatted with the guests and paved the way for Santa's arrival on the 13th. By Lt. Gov.
