Jews For Jesus Present Christ In Pbssover Feb. 1 Jh'an Moskowitz, Chicago area director of Jews for Jesus, will present Christ in the Passover at the Alliance church, 3815 W. Bull Valley road, Sunday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. The purpose of the "Christ in the Passover" presen tation is to enhance the Christian understanding of the New Testament by showing a Jewish background for the Com munion celebration. Ancient and modern Jewish customs are discussed and described with an emphasis on the aspect of redemption that Christ accomplished at Calvary. A table is set with the traditional Jewish Passover i t e m s , i n c l u d i n g representative foods which are explained, but not eaten. Members of the Jews for Jesus group have given this demonstration in more than 1,000 different churches. It was originally written in 1956 by Moishe Rosen, the founder and leader of Jews for Jesus It was abstracted from the writing of the former rabbi, Leopold Cohn, who came to Christ in 1894 and died in 1936 Rosen contends that some of the most important elements of Christian doc trine, such as the Trinity, the principle of Substitutionary Atonement, and salvation through a personal relationship with the Messiah, are implied in the Seder (Passover feast) as observed by Orthodox Jews even today. The Christ in the Passover demonstration is an abbreviated form of the Seder. Ordinarily, the celebration of the feast takes about four hours to present Year End Traffic Fatalities Down Year end traffic fatalities in Illinois continued on a downward trend resulting in a 2 percent decrease in total fatalities for all of 1980. During 1980 there were 1,978 deaths on Illinois highways, down from 2,019 recorded in 1979 and 2,137 in 1978. These provisional statistics are released by the Illinois Department of Tran sportation and the Illinois state police. Provisional figures show 137 people died as a result of 132 accidents during December. This is a 16 percent decrease from the 168 traffic fatalities in December, 1979, and a 6.8 decrease from the 147 fatality total in December, 1978 In all December accidents, there were 39 pedestrians killed in 38 accidents, 2 pedalcyclists killed in 2 accidents, 3 persons killed in 3 railroad crossing ac cidents, and 2 persons killed in 2 accidents involving motorcycles. This presentation will take ap proximately one hour Many of the elements of the Passover feast are ob served by Orthodox Jews today in the same manner that they were in Jesus' time One important ingredient, however, is missing, inasmuch as the Jewish people of today do not eat the Passover lamb since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 VD Pastor Gerald Robertson and the entire congregation invite the public to par ticipate in this special presentation. No admission will be charged, a free will offering will be taken. Undelivered federal tax refund checks totaling $938,239 for 2,737 northern Illinois taxpayers are waiting to be claimed, the Internal Revenue Service said. Many of these checks remain undelivered because taxpayers have moved and left no forwarding address with the U.S. Postal service, according to the IRS. Other refund delays are caused by errors or omissions on the tax return, such as illegible names or addresses. Taxpayers who filed on time and still have not received their 1979 tax refunds should check with the IRS as soon as possible, because refund delays can also be caused by lost or stolen checks If this is the case, the IRS can put tracers on the missing checks In all refund inquiries, the IRS said, taxpayers should provide the names and addresses as they appear on the return, the actual names and addresses if different, the Social Security numbers, and the type of forms filed Chicago taxpayers should call 435-1040. Suburban taxpayers residing in area code 312 and those living in the Joliet phone region should call 800-972-5400 toll- free. All other northern Illinois taxpayers should call 800-252-2921. Under most cir cumstances, an undelivered refund check can be reissued to the new address and received within three to five weeks Taxpayers from this area are Rosa Agney, Michael Behan. Bonny and Marjorie Egerstaffer, Kent Krueger, Melinda Reynolds, Stanley Sobczak, Wilbert K. Tjardes and Huie J Ward. The San The sun is the nearest star to earth. Its diameter is 860,000 miles.
