Long before the delivery date of Dec. 23, the group gathered food, toys, and clothing through donations and out of their own pockets. Star Fire began the project by going to Harrison school to receive names of worthy families who might need a little extra assistance during the holidays. They chose one family and then began to collect all the goodies. Blue Jay donated a 22 lb., turkey, Gabby received a 14 lb., turkey from his em ployer, the Pied Piper donated vegetables he had grown in his garden, and Voyager's Van was used to deliver. Gabby played Santa dressed in an outfit given to him by T-Bone. Miss Snow Bird wrapped 22 presents that consisted of toys and clothing. Other C.B.ers who helped were Crusader Rabbit, Covered Wagon, White Bathtub, Dispatcher, Scotchman, Bear Cat, Gopher, and Brushman. Cliff Mason and his family went door to door in their neighborhood in order to help out. The Mason's are not even into the C.B. craze but heard of the project from Gabby and wished to help. Gabby said that when they all Saw the smiles on the faces of the families they visited, they themselves received a wonderful Christmas present. It's something they plan to continue doing in future years. * I felt good when I heard; this story and even though Christmas has been over for some time, I wanted to share it with you. It's great to have people like Gabby and his C.B. buddies around who gave the true meaning of Christmas to not only the families they visited, but all, of us who have now heard about their project.
