The petition, as presented by Attorney Dan Curran, representing Irv Koppel and Tony Bono, concerns a six-acre (ap­ proximate)9 tract of land at the intersection of McCullom Lake road and the future Orleans street in the McHenry Lakes Estates subdivision. Orleans street is under construction. The unanimous vote of the Council approved two variations applying only to this tract of land, which was zoned "R-4" multi-family. "Let's Make McHenry Beautiful" is the theme adopted by the McHenry Beautification committee which held an open meeting in the City Council cham­ bers. It is the committee's purpose to encourage all businesses, as well as residents, to join the cam­ paign: "Let's Sweep McHenry Oean" and "Let's ( Make McHenry Bloom". The McHenry County Mental Health board ap­ proved the contract with the Woodstock Residence for a five-bed psychiatric in­ patient unit for 170,281 and okayed other pending ex­ penditures from the first year National Institute of Mental Health grant. The adversary nature of the gypsy moth controversy changed to one of cooperation as Illinois Department of Agriculture officials met with several McHenry area resident to begin a progressive trapping program to control the moth population. The McHenry County Soil and Water Conservation district recently announced that David Rigby, science teacher at Johnsburg Junior high school, has been named McHenry County Soil and Water Conservation District Teacher of the Year. Judge Henry Cowlin of the 19th Judicial Circuit court the million dollar Irwin suit against McHenry Elementary School District 15. Research included practices at other schools in the county and made comparisons. The McHenry City Council approved a variation which would allow a maintenance man and his wife to live in a basement apartment at 704 Logan street. The approval, however, did not come until two votes were taken.
