Lakeland Park & Lakeland Shores Carol Cominsky CAROL COMINSKV The Lakeland Park columnist for about a year, Carol Cominsky inherited the column from Sharon Gacek. "Sharon came over one day, handed me a pad and pencil and said, Start writing'," Mrs. Cominsky said. Carol lives in Lakeland Park on Prairie avenue with her husband Joel, who is a tool and dye maker working in Rolling Meadows Their children are Michael. 17, who attends West campus; Lisa, 12, who attends Parkland; and Jamie, 6, who attends Landmark. Mrs. Cominsky is an agoraphobic and is working at the mental health clinic in a new program designed to help other phobics cope. Agoraphobia is defined as a dread fear of being in open spaces. She is also active operating a citizen's band REACT station from her home. "I've really enjoyed the column and it has helped to get me in with others and get me known," Carol said "Some weeks are very busy and then there are weeks when no one calls."' The next general meeting of the Lakeland Park Woman's club is Thursday, March 12. It will begin with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p. m in 385-7246 the community house, 1717 Sunset. Their sister Deanna was there for the celebration, along with grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Borta; uncle Steve; uncle Kenny, who was home on leave; the Flinn family and the Royse family. Brad enjoyed a second party on the 22nd, when he took 10 school friends to a local hamburger spot for an afternoon of fun, food and games. SCOUT NEWS Brownie Troop 464 and Girl Scout Troop 320 were very busy during the month of February. It began on the 6th with their anual Father- Daughter dinner. The dads enjoyed taking their lovely young ladies ou* for the evening. The week of Valentine's day, both troops had a party where plenty of goodies were served. The Brownies learned how to make fortune cookies and learned about China in observance of the Chinese New year. The junior troop was busy making pretty wall hangings out of pretzels, nuts and cheerios. The month ended with all the girls turning in their cookie orders. They are grateful to everyone who placed an order and said they will see them again sometime between April 4-12 when they make deliveries. SLUMBER PARTY 1 think the rafters nearly fell in at the Cominsky home Saturday, Feb. 21. Lisa turned 12 years old on the 23rd and that was the first day of her three-day celebration. Grandma and grandpa Cserep came over in the evening to give her presents and have some cake and ice cream. They made a quick exit when Sherri Knaack, Kim Doessel, Ramona Gregario and Michelle Maclean came in with their sleeping bags. Our good friend Karen Doessel stayed a few hours to give us some moral support. Why should I be the only one to go deaf from the music blasting on the stereo?
