White Elephant" Auction Virginia Orr, on the left, McHenry Business and Professional Women's club past president, used an assortment of white elephants to convey her message to two of the club's most recently installed new members. A "White Elephant" auction will be the main attraction when the club meets for a corned beef boiled dinner at the Old Mill Inn on Barnard Mill road. Wonder Lake. United Methodist Women Schedule March Meeting The next general meeting of the United Methodist Women of the First United Methodist church of McHenry will be held Thursday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m., at the church. The program will be given by Mae Stinespring and Marion Barrows. All ladies of the church are invited and urged to come. The February meeting began with the annual Agape Luncheon at noon, in the Fellowship hall, com­ memorating the week of Prayer and Self-Denial. Members of Marcia Mary Ball Circle were hostesses. President Veretta Gerstad called the meeting to order and all joined in a silent prayer for those mentioned on the Prayer Chain. Mae Stinespring reminded the ladies of the World Day of Prayer which was scheduled for Friday, March 6, at the Covenant church in McHenry. Recommendations from the U.M.W. APRIL 24 Country West Fest-First United Methodist church- from 6 p.m. Bride's Grandfather Performs Ceremony Tamalene Gene Cole and Mark Glen Nelson ex­ changed promises of marriage before the bride's grandfather, William Breming of Zion, 111. on March 7. Jehovas Witness Kingdom Hall, Algonquin, 111., was the setting for the 4 p.m. ceremony and Roger Oglesby gave the wedding talk. Special music was provided by soloist Noreen Grosse, accompanied on the guitar by Bob Fendler. She sang a song she had written especially for the occasion; followed by "Longer Than"; and "Tammie", in honor of the bride. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Cole, 714 Lincoln road, McHenry. The parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Nelson of Dundee, 111. and Mrs. Eva Nelson of Mundelein, 111. The bride wore a gown of dacron polyester organza, trimmed with chantilly lace. Her A-line skirt was enhanced with a flounce of crystal pleats, flowing into a chapel length train. The cuffs of the long, full, sheer sleeves and high neck lace bib bodice were accented with seed pearls. She carried a bouquet fashioned of deep pink and cream colored silk roses. Attending the bride as matron of honor was her sister Debbie Cole of- McHenry. Bridesmaids were Calene Westergaurd of Antioch and Debbie Hartwig of Schaumburg. Cristin Martinez of Zion was the flower girl. Attendants were attired in gowns of burgundy lustre glow qiana, featuring a street length wrap skirt, separate long skirt and highlighted with a sheer cape draping over the shoulders. They carried silk flower bouquets of burgundy roses and shocking pink carnations. The flower girl carried a basket of assorted silk roses and carnations. Handling the duties of best man was Scott Georgenson of Algonquin. Groomsmen were Dave Idle of Crystal Lake and Dan Hartwig of Schaumburg. The ring bearer was Ryan Hartwig and he carried a satin pillow bearing the wedding rings and one pink silk carnation. Ushers were Duane Harris of Grand Junction, Colo., Charles Simpson of Antioch, 111. and Eric Coleman of Round Lake, 111. The bride's mother chose a champagne beige floor length dress. A beige and pale red, casual, screen print, caftan style, floor length dress was the choice of the groom's stepmother and his mother wore a pale green dress. A reception dinner, followed by dancing, for approximately 365 friends and relatives was held at Crescent Bay Landing, Johnsburg. Upon return from a honeymoon at the Wagon Wheel in Rockton, 111. the newlyweds will reside at 50-7 Oakhill Colony, Fox Lake, 111. The new Mrs. Nelson is a skin care consultant for Jafra Company and does part time house cleaning. Her husband is an employee of Hartwig Flooring Com­ pany. Both are graduates of McHenry Community high school. Wonder Lake Seniors Elect New Officers I The next regular meeting of the Wonder Lake Senior Citizens club, March 16, will be the annual meeting, therefore, final reports will be in order and an election will be held for new officers. Nominations are still open from the floor. It will also be Blood Pressure day and all senior citizens of Wonder Lake are urged to avail themselves of this opportunity. One need not be a member of the club to take advantage of the service and everyone is invited to stay and enjoy an afternoon with the members. Blood pressures will be taken from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the regular meeting will begin at 1 p.m. At the March 2 meeting, a report on the quilt project was given by Mary Pitzen, after which she made a donation to the club toward the purchase of an amplifier and speaker. Joe Roti, chairman of Bowling, told the group how much the members enjoyed bowling each Thursday, starting at 1 p.m. at the McHenry Recreation, and urged others to come out and enjoy a fun afternoon. D i c k W o j i c h o w s k i , chairman of the Nominating committee reported on candidates for new officers and nominations were taken from the floor. Forty members of the club went by bus to the Shrine circus and everyone enjoyed the show. Plans are being made for a future outing. It was announced that Treasurer Tom Hillier is home from the hospital and improving in good health again. , It is hoped there will be a good turnout for the March 16 meeting and election. Club members should show an interest in their club. Women Foresters Hold Election Of Officers Election of officers will take place at the next regular meeting of St. Agatha Court No. 777 of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. The final round of the Card Tournament will also be played at this meeting to be held Monday, March 16, at 7:30 p.m., in the Johnsburg Community Club hall. Donna Lindberg will be in charge of the committee consisting of Vera Huemann, Judy Reinboldt, Mary Sch- mitt, Judy Huemann, Kathy Schaefer and Cathy La Bay.
