East is ranked 7th in the state, and from all reports should make it to the Elite Eight. Marengo is headed for Champaign if they can get by the Super Sectional at DeKalb. Bui Barry has had another fine teagn this season and deserves the trip downstate. Congratulations to Bob Zeller, Bob Greve, and Sue Haddick for bins picked All Conference on their respective teams. It is quite a honor for the trio, as they are in some good company on the teams. The Fox Valley football coaches are having their annual clinic tomorrow at West campus. Joe Schlender, Warrior coach is in charge of the affair, and he has quite a lineup of coaches to speak to the group. Grant Blaney of Buffalo Grove high school, auarter- finalists this past fall in Class 6-A, Dave Smith of Hinsdale South who led his team to the finals this past season in 5-A, Chuck Schrader of DeKalb will be there. The Barbs were runnerup last fall in 4-A. Chuck will be the head coach of the Shrine All Star team this summer. Jack Lewis of I.C. of Elmhurst is no stranger to Marian fans. Jack is a 34-year veteran in the coaching ranks. Ken Ryder of Forres ton high school (2-A teams) has record of 52 and 33 in 12 years of coaching. Mike Curry of Freeport (Aquin) is the 1-A coach that will speak to the group. He will speak on the passing game, which should be interesting to the coaches. Over 100 coaches are expected to be in attendance, and that has to be most pleasing to Coach Joe. He has put in a lot of time to make this a success. Down memory lane to a most disheartening defeat for the Warriors at the Rockford Sectional when they lost in overtime to Harlem of Rockford 57 to 55. The Warriors led by 4, 53-49 with only 19 seconds remaining in the game. Jury, the big Harlem center, scored with 10 seconds remaining, and then a Warrior inbound pass was intercepted and Jury scored with 2 seconds left in the game. In overtime it was all Harlem as they outscored the Warriors 4-2 for the win. McHENRY VS. HARLEM SECTIONAL TOURNEY AT ROCKFORD McH Zeller Stark Koerber Kasprzyk Ludwig Reilly Lund Hertel Christy J. Sitting too comfortably in the big chair and trying to think of something to write about this time made me a bit fidgety. So down to the basement to shine shoes. A change of pace is good therapy., The therapy was great, but where are the brilliant thoughts? Spring is.just around the corner - a time when a young man's fancy turns. A young man, but how about a fellow who has turned the corner? A glance over toward Hanford's home and we can visualize Mrs. Hanford anxious to get out in her garden. Ford doesn't get out of the house very often so he is probably chomping at the bit for baseball broadcasts to start. flbok out at our back forty and dream about a garden. Must have had the same dream for 40 years. Wondered why we hadn't seen Clyde Blackwell striding down the streets and learned he has been hospitalized. Clyde got out for a while, but they missed him so much they called him back. With powerful suggestion from a a certain source, I started to clean out the accumulation of papers in my so-called den. Throwing away greeting cards and kind letters is a task that pulls at my heart strings. If I could save money like I can savr tht se precious remembrances, there would be no problem in balancing the budget. You can take Mie ooy out oi the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy. Visiting Chicago for a day, Mrs. Tom (Nora) Murphy was placed in the care of Fred Meyer to be sure she would get home safely. They boarded a train and Fred adviacu her they hau to walk way to the front car to be in position when they arrived in McHenry. So -- what happened? Wrong train. They landed in West Chicago and had to walk all the way to the rear car to get off An SOS was sent out by smoke signals and the lost were found and returned to their homes. With the acquisition of Carlton Fisk, the White Sox are strong in the catching department. Everybody admits the Sox are the outstanding team in baseball in the pitching department. Too bad the Cubs don't have a good left handed hitter to trade for a south paw pitcher. _ Of course, you know we would do anything possible to help that North Side team. Ducks are waddling across the streets again. That's one way to slow down traffic. A big help to the police department.
