During mini-courses students may select from a wide range of educational activities which enrich and complement the regular school experience and provide a break from the monotony which sometimes comes at this time of year. This very successful program has been in effect for several years and regularly incorporates special 4-H activities into the structure as well as such offerings as Arts & Crafts, Guest Lecture Series, Leisure Time and Outdoor Education. Students enrolled in 4-H courses may choose to participate in the annual Johnsburg Junior high 4-H Mini-fair which will be held Wednesday, April 22 Students will submit class projects to be judged on that day. During the evening. from 7 to 8pm., there will be an open house for parents and other interested citizens. Also, at that time, regular 4- H members from the area will be presenting demon strations representative of their activities Financial support tor this mini-course program comes largely from the Johnsburg P.T.O., Woodshed Whirlers and the Johnsburg Junior high school Student Council. Teaching materials for 4-H related courses are provided by the University of Illinois Cooperative service through its Woodstock office. Rib bons and prize money for the Mini-fair are also provided through 4-H Johnsburg's 4-H Mini-fair received wide recognition when it was featured in National 4-H News and again when it was the subject of a presentation at the "4-H in Schools - 4-H and the Han dicapped" workshop for Illinois Extension advisors at the University of Illinois in 1980.* Assisting with coor dinating this year's Mini- course - Mini-fair activities are Mrs Martha Finkbeiner, junior high teachers' aide, and Kathi Heberer of the University of Illinois C o o p e r a t i v e E x t e n s i o n service PAGE 23 - PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 1981 Chess Tournament Air Only Rubber-backed scatter rugs can be dried in the dryer, but u»i»h h*ot IJt* air setting only. Contemporary archaeo logists disagree on whether the dog or the sheep was the first animal domesticated by man. But they agree that sheep were the first meat-animals domesti cated. Prehistoric man recog nized sheep for their ability to provide both meat and clothing. AMERICAN! CHSXÎ on Ltf » _ f |f*I 1 C.«»' , •If'"' cr a \Co t t ro. n'nv.
