Marian Ties For Top Rating In Math Contest Senior Council Offers Variety Of Services Twenty-four students from Marian Central Catholic high school recently par ticipated in the first annual state mathematics contest sponsored by the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics The team tied for first place in the Class A regional competition held at Rock Valley college in Rock- ford. qualifying members for the finals to be held May 2 at Illinois State university. Normal. Teams winning first place ribbons were Algebra 1. Geometry, Algebra 11. Pre calculus, Freshmen- Sophomore Relay and Ten- Person. Second place finishers were Freshman- Sophomore Two-Person, Junior-Senior Two-Person, and the oral presentation on the Pythagorean Theorem Team members qualifying for the State competition were Eric Adamshick, Marian Asfeld, Andy Belmonte, Bill Berner, Sean Borman, Dan Draffkorn, Mike Eisele. Faith Church To Host Four Special Holy Week Services Faith Presbyterian church will host four special Holy week services. April 12-19 On Maundy Thursday, after a congregational potluck dinner at 6 p.m., a commemoration of the Last Supper will be held. The service will include the sacrament ot Communion and reflection on Christ as the fulfillment of the Passover. In the Presbyterian church all believers are entitled to receive Communion, whether or not they are Presbyterian and whether or not they are members of the church. The service will begin at 7:30. On Good Friday at 8 p.m. a Good Friday service will be held using stirring readings from James Bishop's masterpiece The Day Christ Died.
