Reward Service Project Family Celebration Week Is Proclaimed SECTION 2 - PAGEl-PLAINPKAl.ER- FRIDAY, APRIL 1«. 1M1 The McHenry county board of trustees has of­ ficially proclaimed May 3-11 as McHenry county's second annual Family Celebration week Family Celebration week is dedicated to enhancing the quality of family life in all its various forms by providing op­ portunities for shared ex­ periences among family members Schools, organizations, churches, and businesses join in the celebration by planning and sponsoring events for families such as outings, dinners, and educational activities Over 50 organizations sponsored events in 1980 including Grandparents day in kin­ dergarten at Greenwood school, a free family movie, the Hobbit at Harvard Public library, and Family Fun night at McHenry County college Child Care center Every day is family day for many, but Family Celebration week is a time for all to celebrate that families are the center of their lives For ideas or more information for any group, call 455-6910 17 95 Mrs. Grover Elmore arid Mrs. Hugh Fanning receive a beautiful plaque presented to the McHenry Woman's club as district winner in a national competition for community service project. The General Federation of Woman's Clubs requested Woman's clubs throughout the United States to submit in writing their community service project. Mrs. Fanning presented a report of the efforts of the McHenry Woman's club to improve the library as a center for community activities through contributions for furniture and equipment. The cooperation of the McHenry Woman's club in many library activities and projects was also described. The award "Unity in Diversity"-1978-1980 CIP District Award" is on display in the McHenry Public library. Those who enroll in the :i- credit hour class this summer will learn how to erect the double-walled greenhouse from a kit purchased by MCC last .July for $5,169. The students wiil also do the cement work, heating and ventilation " work, electrical work, in­ stallation of thermometer and controls, bench design and layout, and watering systems.
