The campaigns of some of the people seeking office also spurred a new interest in who is running for office. The new mayor-president is William Mitchell Bill received 129 votes; his op ponent: James Eichhorn. 87. Elected to the position of village trustee were John Miedzianowski and Ray Nolan both receiving 145 votes; and William Sandell with 156 votes. New to the political scene in the village, Diana Barroso didn't quite make the board but she did get a whopping 138 votes. Congratulations to the winners. Running unopposed for village clerk. Betty Messer received 202 votes. The new police commissioner will be John Miedzianowski. The new officials will be sworn in at the next meeting of the village to be held April 21. at the Johnsburg Junior high VILLAGE MEETING The village held its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday. April 7, election night. A number of items were touched upon at this meeting, but some will be left to the new lx»ard to !*• decided upon. A license to operate the Weiner Wagon was granted to Bill Mitchell by the board. Area residents will be watching for the Weiner Wagon to open under new management. Greg Nowak. who is in charge of completion of the municipal building, reported that insulation and farming have been purchased to start work on the interior meeting room and office. It is hoped the building will be ready for use some time this summer HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL Sandy Messer recently had surgery in St Joseph's in Elgin and is now home to recuperate. Friends and family are happy to see her home again. She received a surprise visit from her sister JulieRosinski of Conover. Set Registration For Pre-School Children A c o m p r e h e n s i v e registration for all children bom prior to Dec. 1, 1978, is scheduled by Johnsburg Community Unit District 12. The registration will take place at the Johnsburg Middle school Wednesday, April 22, and Thursday, April 23. Registration will be done alphabetically by last name as follows: Wed nesday, A through E. 9 to 11; F through J. 1 to 3; Thur sday, K through R, 9 to 11; S through Z, 1 to 3. This registration applies to all pre-school children ages 3 through 5, even if the child has been registered in previous years . School officials are hopeful that all parents of children 3, 4 and 5 years of age will register on these two days. A 100 percent registration is the goal set in order to facilitate the coordination of kindergarten placement for this coming September Equally important is the necessity to arrange for a hearing and vision ap pointment < to be held in May for all pre-schoolers) and to provide information for the preschool diagnostic screening (to be held during the summer. So that school officials may provide complete and convenient services for district residents, it is im portant that parents register at this time. This 3. 4, and 5-year-old registration is necessary in order to efficiently and adequately provide quality programs for District 12 residents. The annual registration serves as an informal census for the district also;* therefore, all parents are encouraged to m a k e n e c e s s a r y arrangements so their children can be registered.
