It will not only provide a night of fun for those at tending, but will help the Jaycees raise money to send two Wonder Lake children to Camp New Hope this summer. Camp New Hope is designed for the mentally and physically handicapped. Wayne Kreutzer, the Jaycee president, is most enthusiastic about the night and is hoping for a huge success. If you have any questions about Camp New Hope or would like information about becoming a member of the Jaycees, give Wayne a call at 728-0404. A membership drive is also under way, so he would like to hear from you. DINNER CELEBRATION The Wonder Lake American Legion Post 1169 recently celebrated the 62nd birthday of the formation of American Legions. It was held March 17, with a corned beef and cabbage dinner which was attended by some 100 people. A beautiful cake, which was baked and decorated by a local baker, who is a Legion member in Harvard, was served for dessert Legion auxiliary members helped with serving the dinner. The Legion was most appreciative to all those who helped and especially those who attended to make the night such a pleasant one. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE This year, the Memorial day parade will take place on the traditional day of May 30. which is a Saturday. Any organization that would like to participate in the parade are encouraged to call the post for further details at 653-9948. RACES TO BEGIN Wonder Lake sailors will be busy readying their sailboats for the beginning of the racing season. The first race is scheduled for Saturday May 23. Yacht club members have received renewal forms to be filled out and returned to Tom Michaels. If you would like to become a member, contact Tom at 3720 W. Lake Shore drive. If you like to sail or just enjoy watching the Yacht club is for you! The first cocktail party of the season will be held May 30, at the home of Bob and Clara Kruger. WHERE IS WICKLINE BAY? It hasn't disappeared - just the name has been changed. The present subdivision called Wooded Shores was once nampd Wickline Bay after M*. Wickline, who was one of the early men of influence at the Lake. When you hear a group of people referring to Wickline Bay, you know they have been around for awhile I Do you remember when Wonder Lake did not have Boy's baseball? I do, aqd was recently reminded of two men who were in fluential in its organization. Wilbur Haak and Jack Moore got the ball rolling back in the fifties. WOMAN'S CLUB MEETING A "Wildlife Presentation" by Sally Joosten will be the featured program at the meeting of the Woman's club of Wonder Lake Thursday, April 23. Many upcoming events will be discussed at business meeting, led by club president, Pat Fit zgerald. The slate of officers will again be presented by the nominating committee after which voting will take place, The House Walk, scheduled for June 6, will be discussed, along with the Red Cross Swimming Lessons, which the club will sponsor in cooperation with the Wonder Lake Kiwanis, this summer. This will be a very in formative meeting for members and guests alike.
