A large garden basket of imported handmade silk flowers, designed to be displayed on a wood pedestal, handmade by the bride's grandfather, decorated the setting for the exchange of vows at the church altar The bride wore a floor length gown of white silk organza, enchanced with chantilly lace. The bodice was fashioned with a Queen Ann neckline and lace bishop sleeves. The skirt fell into a full chapel length train, accented with a French pleated ruffle. Apricot and yellow roses and rose buds were arranged in her bouquet with lace, satin and silk ivy, graced with baby's breath and forget-me-nots. Attending the bride as her maid of honor was her sister, Debra Diedrich of McHenry. Bridesmaids were friends of the bride. Deb Dercole of McHenry and Vickie Glade of Rolling Meadows, III.; and a cousin of the bride, Julie Miller of Richmond. Attendants were attired in apricot tina seta fabric gowns, styled with spaghetti straps and floor length full crystal pleated skirts. Short sleeveless bolero jackets with lace collars com plimented the ensemble. They each carried an array of Spring silk flowers arranged in natural wicker garden baskets. A brother-in-law of the groom. Fred Diedrich of McHenry, handled the duties of best man. Groomsmen were the bride's brother, Ken Gaylord of McHenry; and friends of the groom, Jim French of McHenry and Kenny Miller of Richmond. Ushers were Dave Maurer and Rich Wimmer, both of McHenry. The groom wore a white tuxedo and the groomsmen were clad in silver gray tuxedos. The mother of the bride chose a sea spray floor St. Patrick's Catholic church, Elkhorn, Wis., was the setting for the exchange of wedding vows April 4, between the former Elizabeth (Lisa) Joan Sch- mitt and Daniel Dean Cooper. The bride is the daughter of Steve and Estelle Schmitt, former residents of McHenry, presently living in Elkhorn, Wis. Donald and Shirley Cooper of East Troy. The bride graduated from Elkhorn high school in 1975 and is a Nurse Aide at Lakeland Nursing home, Elkhorn. The groom is a 1971 graduate of East Troy Community high school; graduated from Fox Valley Technical Institute, Ap- pleton. Wis., in 1973 and is the proprietor of Cooper Surveying Services. Elkhorn. The bride was the guest of honor at four showers given by family members and friends. Celebrates Birthday HELEN BOUCHARD Shouts of "surprise" greeted Helen M. Bouchard Sunday, May 3. as she en tered the home of 'her daughter. Mrs. Stanley (Arlys) Aim, 4204 W. Ponca, McHenry. Approximately 50 friends and relatives had gathered in honor of her eightieth birthday. Mrs. Bouchard was born May 1, 1901, in Chicago, has lived in Crystal Lake most of her life; is presently residing at 561 Darlington, Crystal take; and is a member of St. Thomas Keen Agers and the Crystal Lake American Legion Auxiliary. She has two daughters and 10 ' grandchildren. The Open House celebration was hosted by Mrs. Aim and her sister, Mrs. Charles F. (Arlene) Kleptz of Union, Ohio, who flew to McHenry Friday, May 1, to help prepare for the festivities. A buffet, complete with a beautifully decorated bir thday cake, was served to the guests. A special album depicting events throughout their forty years together was created and presented to Mr. and Mrs. Schuh by their daughter-in-law, Mary M. Schuh. They also received a corsage and boutonniere from their five grand children. A presentation of tickets for a three-day trip to Las Vegas, from the couple's children, Bill of Palatine, John (Jack) of McHenry and Carol Nowak, was the high point of the evening. * * • • The reason so many bathing suits look good is because they are so well filled. Finalizing plans for "Fair Diddley" are Suianne Beam of McHenry, Kay Normaaa of Woodstock, Lynda St ox en of Harvard, Sandy Schmitt of Crystal Lake and Joyce Schwegel of Algonquin. "Show Diddley", a show for kids, will be held in the Opera House during "Fair Diddley", Sunday, May 17, on the Woodstock square. Freddy Fredricks, a magician-comedian, will emcee'the show which will feature Fee-Fo the clown. David Stratton's Windsong puppets will also appear and singer Ms. Buddy Kostelny will lead a sing-along. Show times are 1, 2:15 and 3:30 p.m. Children under three will be admitted free. On the bandstand of the square, local talent from all over McHenry county will be seen. At 11:15, the Wood stock City band will play in honor of the dedication of the newly refurbished band stand. From noon until 1 p.m., the McHenry county chapter of the Sweet Adelines will sing. The Marian high school Jazz band will entertain at 1 p.m. Two o'clock will bring to the bandstand a program of dance and gynmastics. - The Cary-Grove high school Show Chorale will entertain at 3 p.m. The bandstand will be alive at 4 p.m. with the McHenry county square dancers and from 5 to 5:30 p.m. the Woodstock high school Stage band will perform. The announcer for all these events will be Bob Bosman of Woodstock. All entertainment on the bandstand is free and a part of "Fair Diddley," the Mental Health Resource league for McHenry county's fund raiser for mental health agencies in the county. Make Final Preparations For Luncheon-Style Show Final preparations are being made by the Zion Ladies Aid for its annual Salad Bar Luncheon and Style Show. The big event will be held Wednesday, May 13, at noon, in the Social hall of the Zion Lutheran church, which is located at 4206 W. Elm street (route 120) in McHenry. There will be an assort ment of delicious salads for everyone's tasting pleasure. After the appetite has been satisfied, the latest in children's and women's fashions from a local children's and infants' wear shop and a local women's apparel shop will be modeled for viewing pleasure.
