JUNE S. lttl Be a beautiful bride... Ten steps to perfect makeup Glenn Roberts, creative train ing director for Elizabeth Ar- den, has traveled to all parts of the work) giving makeup advice to thousands of women--in cluding many brides-to-be. He's learned firsthand what the problems are, and has be- - come something of an expert on bridal makeup. Here are some tips from Glenn on planning the perfect wedding makeup: 1. Don't wait until just before the wedding to experiment with makeup and hairstyles. Start far enough ahead so that you will be comfortable with both the look and the way to achieve it on the day of the wedding. 2. Try out hair and makeup with all the pieces of your wed ding ensemble--veil or hat, dress, jewelry--and, if possi ble, do it in the actual light of the church or synagogue. 3. Since both dim church lighting and wearing all white tend to "wash out" the features, don't be afraid to wear plenty of color (lively pastels in light to medium shades) and apply it on all parts of the face equally, with no one feature dominating. 1 A BEAUTIFUL MEMORY IS WORTH KEEPING "Vt-vv 4J SEAi. :t forever... ..in a KrcP3AKE BOX -- Mr. Don's Cleaners Inc. "Since wearing all while and dim church lighting tend to Svaah ont' featurea, don't be afraid to wear plenty of color in lively paatela," he aaya. 4. Have a professional facial a week before the wedding to deep clean skin and pores, and to give any possible eruptions a chance to heal. 5. If you wear glasses, be sure to choose eyeshadows bright enough to show through the lenses and maintain the balance of color on the rest of the face. Also, softly line the eyes on both upper and lower lids with a pencil one shade deeper than the eyeshadow. 6. Treat yourself to a mani cure and pedicure a day or two before the wedding, so that hands that cut the cake look lovely and feet that stand throughout the reception feel smooth and comfortable. 7. To make lipstick last through the ceremony and beyond, cover lips with founda tion before applying lipstick. And, to prevent lipstick from "feathering" (bleeding out beyond the mouth), line the lips neatly with a brush and then nil in the center. 8. On the day of the wedding, allow two hours of quiet prep aration before leaving for the ceremony. Sit. don't stand, re laxed in front of a good mirror with plenty of light to do your hair and makeup. 9. Keep a compact, lipstick andjjssues at hand with a bridesmaid or mother for quick touch-ups between ceremony and receiving line, and after the reception wears on. 10. Relax! If you've followed directions this far, you should be refreshed and ready to enjoy the day looking your radiant best. GIVE A GIFT THAT SHOWS YOU CARE A wedding is a special occa sion--a time to give a gift that sends your best wishes to the newly married couple as they embark on their journey through life, together. A unique present, something that will not be duplicated over and over again, will be appreci ated by the newlyweds and show them that time and effort was taken to choose something extra special for them. Need some original gift ideas? If possible, find out the color and decorating preferences of the couple and select a wall hanging or painting that complements their taste. Give a planter or hanging bas ket in an interesting ntifcrame weave, made from various types of ropes and cords. Fill the bas ket with a plant or a bouquet of flowers. Champagne buckets, wine decanters, dessert dishes, vases and cheese boards are more traditional gifts yet items that are not commonly part of a newly put-together household --they are luxuries for the two some just starting out. Hobbyists will appreciate any addition to their favorite pas time, such as the latest in camp ing gear, sailing equipment or a weekend of skiing. And. for those who possess a creative talent, there is nothing like a gift made with the giver's own hands and ingenuity. Silverplated flatware -- the choice of today's bride The bride of today is the har binger of a new state of mind. In selecting her tabletop furnish ings and accessories, she is con tributing to the style and stan dard of living for families of this decade. She makes her choices with a flair for combining elegance with practicality, and is discov ering the ultimate combination of these two qualities in fine sil verplated flatware. Silverplated flatware, long a standard of elegance in Europe, is gaining recognition in this country as a beautiful and clas sic alternative to the more costly sterling silver. It is manufactured by perma nently bonding a layer of pure silver to a base metal through the process of electrolysis. The heavier the layer of pure silver. the more durable and beautiful the product. One company. Reed A Bar ton Silversmiths, uses the heaviest layer of pure silver of any American manufacturer, and can therefore guarantee their silverplated flatware for 100 years. This type of warranty eliminates the worry that a sil verplated piece may lose its lavish silver finish. In addition to the superior durability of high quality sil- verplate. its outward appear ance is virtually indistinguish able from that of sterling. Therefore, today's bride is finding that the best way to combine durability, value and elegance is to select silverplated flatware. Only she will know that her table isn't set with real sterling.
