Lakemoor-Lilymoor. Area Margaret Karas 385-4934 Subdivision Roads Abused Abuse in the use of sub division roads has been increasing with the advent of warm weather. Several calls to authorities have been made due to motorcyclists racing through the residential areas. Safety of children, oldsters and pets are of primary concern to the residents. Cyclists, using the sub division roads as practice areas, are making parents ready to do battle to protect their families and property. Subdivision roads are for use of those who live in the area, and as such, are reasonably safe for youngsters while walking, bicycling or playing. They are not designed as race tracks for practicing motorcyclists with their noise and air-polluting machines do your speeding elsewhere. AN UGLY WORD The Lakemoor community has not recovered from the ugly reality of a double murder early Tuesday, June 2 at the P.M. Pub on Route 120. Twenty-four hour police surveillance is still con tinuing, with the posted sign "Crime area, no entrance". With no known suspects or even a motive, the police are investigating even the smallest clues. Channel 7 helicopters were visible throughout Tuesday afternoon and evening as the reporters gathered in formation for Channel 7 news. Very strange to see familiar faces and places on television for such a horrible reason The sympathy of the whole community goes to Ron's family Ron had been in business in Lakemoor for years and had been a candidate for village trustee at the last election. He had been active in community activities, aiding the Lily take Conservation club, and sponsoring athletic programs. He leaves his wife and three children. Pat lived in Lakemoor prior and during her marriage She leaves two children and a sister. Again, a devastated community extends its deepest sym pathy LILYMOOR HIGHLIGHTS The roadside cleanup scheduled for May 30 was cancelled, as only one person showed up to work. This leaves brush cleanup the responsibility of each resident. The Lilymoor association meeting June 1 was well attended. Repair on Glen- wood should be completed soon. The sign posts need painting. Volunteers are needed for this chore. Call taura Meyer at 385-8568 The association hopes to raise money with a com munity garage sale to be held at Jim Johnson's property on Route 120, the 27th of June.. Items for sale may be brought to Kathy Goodwin's home, 344-2688. W i t h e v e r y o n e s ' cooperation, this can be a worthwhile endeavor. They're the ones who can make you look like the smartest guy on the block because they can put you in the smartest house on the block. The energy- smart house. The energy-smart house has double-glazed windows. The layer of air trapped between them will help you keep comfortable when cold winds blow or sidewalks sizzle. The ceilings and walls are packed with insulation to help you stay warm when you should be warm and cool when you should be cool. There's caulking and weather-stripping around every door and window so you won't waste money heating and cooling the great outdoors. Instead of an air conditioner and furnace, there's an electric heat pump. x»ey ̂all • _X\..! mt In summer, it pulls heat from the warm air inside and forces it outside to keep you cool. In winter, it reverses itself, drawing residual heat from the cokj air outside and pumping it inside to keep you warm. Happy too, because „ all winter long this amazing little machine actually provides at least fifty percent more energy than it uses. And nobody has to tell you what that means. All in all, a house that's energy-smart costs less to operate than one that's not so smart. And since the price of energy isn't going down for any of us, it'll be worth that much more should you ever decide to move on. If you're in the market for a new home, talk to one of the energy-smart builders. It could be the most smart thing you ever did. AURORA Stonegate Manor 900-950 Autumn Lane East of Church Rd.
