For, such a floor, created by you, is much more than a money-saving spruce-up job. It's also the kind of personal in­ vestment that makes a house a home. Here, to boost your creative thoughts, are some design ideas from die Tile Council of Amer­ ica: • A plaid or gingham- patterned floor a Ta ceramic mosaics is sure to put a country kitchen in a class of its own. But, if you spend a lot of time in the kitchen, choose relatively quiet colors that won't tire the eye easily. • A needlepointer's favorite Bargello interpretation is an in­ teresting idea for a dining room floor. . . especially if the chair cushions are Bargello-stitched, too. • Medallion motifs created with hexagon-shaped mosaics suit provincial rooms, be they of the French or South-of-the Bor­ der persuasion. • Stripes--whether awn­ ing-bold or pinstripe-polite-- are the easiest of all underfoot patterns to create.
