After many years of serving her com munity Joe has decided it is time to retire. - We are all very grateful to her for the excellent job she did and for all the hours of her time that she gave to see that everything went smoothly. Anyone interested in booking the community house in the future may call Pat Buhrman, 385-3701. SET ASIDE THIS DAY c Be sure to circle Saturday. Aug. 29 on your calendar. The Lakeland Park Property Owners association has planned the End of Summer Picnic for that day. It will begin at 5 ,p.m. at the community house, and continues until 10 p.m. Last year's dance was a huge success and the^plan is for this year's to be even better, if that's possible. MEMORY LAPSE Were you ever getting ready to do something and you had a feeling you were forgetting something? As I was Dreoaring to deliver last week's column to the Plaindealer office that feeling came over me. It finally dawned on me three days later when it was too late. I forgot to remind you about the bike clinic that was held July 14 and 21. While you are marking spedial days on your calendar for August please circle the 11th and 18th. The morning sessions of the bicycle safety program will be held at the com munity house beginning at 10 a.m. The clinic is open to all bicycle riders and will cover the safety and operation of the bike as well as the rules of the road. COMPETES IN CONTEST Antoinette 'Toni' Gacek had a day that was like one written in a fairy tale book, and that day for her was Wednesday, July 1. She was to be a contestant in the Kiwanis Little Miss Peanut contest that evening and aunt Jeanette Gacek played fairy godmother in the morning. Aunt Jeanette took Toni out shopping and bought her the most beautiful mint green dress, white shoes, tiny heart earrings and ring. Toni was in seventh heaven. Then, later in the day it was over to aunt Jeanette's where Karen Tarnowski came over and French braided her hair while Audra and April became her handmaidens. When dressed everyone agreed she was beautiful. \ The contest was nerve wracking and I would never want to be a judge for that contest for the twenty-five girls were all gorgeous with their curls, beautiful dresses, shiny shoes and of course their angelic smiles. The audience wished the sound system was better and we all strained our ears to hear the witty answers to the basic questions. Naturally there could only be one winner but each girl was the winner in her family's hearts. The girls had a wonderful time and all were happy to have been in the contest. Toni was then taken out te dinner with her parents, John and Sharon; brothers, Jay and Bobby; also, Audra, April, Annette, Tom, aunt Jeanette, uncle Ed and Heinz. Even after dinner it took her quite a while to unwind from her fairy tale day. BIRTHDAY WISHES "Happy Birthday'* to Rodney Emery, Sissie Grey, Marilynn Lean and Linda Bucaro mi July 22.
