Murphy also hit a grand slam home run powering the Nationals to a 10-7 victory over the Americans. In the 11-year-old All Star game, the Nationals also won by a score of 15-0. STAFF PHOTO - WAYNE GAYLORD The game of the week will take place at 8:15 p.m. this Wednesday as Western Division leader Doherty's meets Wayne's, second best in the East. The contest will feature the only undefeated team left in Twelve Inch, with Doherty's sporting an impressive 10-0 record, while their opponents come in leading the league in home runs, runs scored and total bases. Doherty's has included back to back victories over the Fox Hole Tap and the Old _ Bridge Tavern, Wayne's beat the Tap earlier in the season but were unable to get by the Bridge. A few of the names behind those Doherty's victories include . pitcher Irish DeCiccio. DeCiccio currently leads the club in hitting with a .563 clip, third highest in the West. Mike Rogers, a hard hitting left center fielder, is only two percentage points lower but still leads in total hits with 23 safeties. Shortstop Matt Oik and catcher Jerry Brodin provide added power with both tied for club leadership in RBI's at 15. Oik also leads in runs scored with 17. Oik, Brodin, DeCiccio and Rogers have combined for a total of 23 extra base hits in ten games. Outfielders Randy Vaulk (.531) and John DeCiccio (.515) have provided steady hitting for the division leaders. They along with defensive specialists Mike Peterson (first base), Jeff Meddings (third base) and Tom Roach (outfield) have played steady in manager Dick Doherty's lineup. Wayne's was the first ball club to beat the Fox Hole Tap after 22 straight vic tories. Ken Prazak's team did it by home run power. At times they seem awesome however they have dropped their last two contests. Reasons include the lack of home runs or no runners on base when they do hit the round tripper plus the nemesis of any club, injuries to key personnel. The Wayne's lineup will still show great power and hitting ability with outfielder Don Prazak leading the way with an impressive .656 average. Prazak also leads in runs batted in (23) and runs scored (21). Prazak has hit 6 home runs including a grandslam with 10 total extra base hits. Catcher Wayne Roewer leads in total team hits with (24) while his .632 average is second best on the ball club. Roewer has hit 8 round trippers, driven in 21 runs and scored 16 times. Infielder Tom Burke is the third leading batter in the Wayne's lineup showing a .576 average. He leads the league with nine home runs including four in one game! He is just behind Prazak with 21 RBI's and 20 runs scored, both second best in team statistics. Other .500 olus hitters include Kevin Horner (.548)/ Rick Wiegman (.571), Pat Burke (.514), and Tom Prudden (.500). All of them can hit the home run ball as they have teamed up for 12 home runs this season. They have also driven in 49 runs and scored 50 runs. Either Rich Kerchura (.556) or Rick Wiegman may be sidelined because of in juries. Both will be missed while if either is in uniform they would not be at, .full strength. Rounding out}the lineup will be outfielder Terry Hovseth and second baseman George Cadotte who both add many years of experience, fine fielding and clutch hitting to Wayne's ball club. Doherty's can afford a loss while Wayne's definitely needs a victory to get hack on the winning track. But both teams wil be playing this contest as if it were the final game of the playoffs.
