Chicago, and En eaths EDWARD O'BRIEN Edward J. O'Brien, 7502 Salem road, Wonder Lake, died Saturday, July 25, at Memorial hospital for McHenry county, Wood­ stock. He was SB years (rid, born Jan. 28, 1922, in the son of Richard Smma (Fitzgerald) O'Brien. Mr. O'Brien was the Fire Chief for Wonder Lake since 1978; had been secretary of the Gas Union Local 19007 in Chicago; a service manager for People's Gas Co.; and was a WW II Army veteran. On June 9, 1943, in Chicago, he married Mildred Kongsgaard O'Brien, who survives. Other survivors are two sons, Bill of McHenry and Kevin of Hermosa, Calif; two daughters, Mrs. Judy Keppler of Webb, Ala. and Mrs. Mary E. McAhon of Wonder Lake; two brothers, John J. of San Antonio, Tex. and Clarence of Chicago; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. Visitation was scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Freund funeral home, Wonder Lake. A funeral Mass will be conducted Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic church, with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to the Wonder Lake Volunteer Fire and Rescue squad. WILLIAM WAITS William G. Watts, 00, of Solon Mills, died Friday, July 24, at St. Therese hospital, Waukegan. He was born Dec. 0, 1920, in Har­ vard, 111. the son of Walter and Ancelia (Thomas) Watts. On Aug. 9, 1941, in Waukegan, he married Loretta 'Sally' Hamm Watts. He was a die grinder 40 years for Fansteel Corp., North Chicago; belonged to the International Machinists Union, Waukegan; and was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Marine Corps CB's. In addition to his wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Francis (Donna) Braden, Pell Lake, Wis., Mrs. William (Linda) Schug, Crystal Lake and Mrs. Betty Jo Schultt, Pistakee Highlands; three sons, William, Crystal Lake, Charles, Richmond and Donald, Orlando, Fla.; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son; a daughter, Patsy Justen, Sept 1975; and a granddaughter, Robin Watts, May, 1979. Funeral services were heM 1 p.m. Monday, at the Ehorn-Adams funeral home, Richmond, with Fr. Thomas Neville officiating and in­ terment in Cedarvale cemetery, Solon Mills. GEORGE KLEINHANS George F. Kleinhans, 1107 N. River road, McHenry, died Thursday, July 23, at his home. He was 74 years old, born in Chicago Nov. 30, 1900, the son of Frederick and Ottilia (Temple) Kleinhans. Mr. Kleinhans lived in McHenry since 1932 and had been a building architect by profession. He owned and operated the Kleinhans Lumber and Building ser­ vices, located on Route 120, from 1935 to 1999. He was a member of the Enterprise club of McHenry county. In addition to his wife Lucile (Piper) whom he married in Chicago in 1941, he is survived by two sons, Steven F. and Jeffrey G., both of McHenry; and one granddaughter, Amber Klein. Visitation was held Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home. Funeral services and interment were private. RICHARD BISHOP Richard W. Bishop, 55, 5104 W. Shore drive, McHenry, died Monday, July 27, at McHenry hospital. He was bom Sept. 7,1925, in Chicago, the son of Jacob and Anna (Honaski) Bishop. Mr. Bishop was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran; he had been a lithographer and worked at Diamond In­ ternational, St. Charles, 111. In addition to his wife Lorraine, nee Stafford, he is survived by three sons, William of Schaumburg, James of Carpentersville and John at home; two County Youth PAGE I - PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY, JULY 19,1991 Orchestra Plays Concert A MoHenry County Youth orchestra summer coocert is scheduled for Friday, July 31, at7:30 p.m. at OldTowne hall in Crystal Lake. Located at the corner of Brink and Williams street, Old TOwne hall ia a restored community meeting room that was described at its opening in 1911 as ""the best place to hold a basket social" and "the most modern facility in Crystal Lake." Many of the room's original features have been retained, such as the hard­ wood floor and embossed tin ceiling. Renovation of the hall a few years ago included the inatallation of air- conditioning. More than 40 students from fourth grade high school, are playing in the McHenry County Youth orchestra's 1991 summer program. Communities in McHenry county represented include Crystal Lake, Cary, Woodstock, McHenry, usic Alaonouin. Johnsburg. and Harvard. Antioch, 111., Sharon, Wis., are represented Thomas Wilson director of will lead the group in pieces by Brahma, Shostakovich, Nelybel, Lutoalawski, and Mills as well as the famous "Russian Sailor's Dance" by Gliere. The public is invited to this informal youth concert. There will be a nominal admission charge. Crowd Disappointed By Substitute Band The McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce and the band billed for park entertainment Friday night have extended their regrets for the disappointment caused on Frontier Days when rock music stunned the crowd gathered expecting country and western music, as advertised. Although the setting and atmosphere can never be duplicated, the "Spice of Life" band and the Chamber invite everyone to come to Pearl street park Friday. Aufl. 14. and entov the band promised originally. Food and beverages will be served. Exact time and other details will be available shortly. Funeral services will be Thursday at noon, at the funeral home and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Elmhurst, 111. evening, the original band called the chairman at 3 p.m. on Frontier day and assured her that a substitute country and western band would please the McHenry folks as completely as their own band had done at the Country Christmas dance. What band members did not know was that the second band had a difficulty and members were unable to meet the commitment also. With no clear idea of the nature of the local event, they sent good friends, who happened to play only rock music and knew nothing of the expectations of country and western.
