Panerali Is New President • At;; the meeting _ of the Board of Trustees Tuesday, Aug. 25, Richard Panerali was unanimously appointed President of the Village of McHenry Shores, to fill the vacancy left by the surprise resignation of David M. Grimes two weeks earlier. Panerali had been elected to the Board of Trustees in the April 7 election and sworn in with three other .new trustees, Charles Werth, Donna Tobeck and Rose Lillegard, on April 28, when he was also elected president pro tem. In his private life, Rich is the chief engineer at the Arlington Park Hilton. He and his wife of 14 years, Bonnie, have lived 'in McHenry Shores for 12 years. Bonnie, in addition to taking care Of their three childen, Krissy, 10, Karen, 8, and Richie, 5, is at present actively involved in getting the March of Dimes on its way. She is a Lieutenant for her area, in charge of recruiting marchers for this worthy cause. Our congratulations go to Rich Panerali and our best wishes to him and his family^ since this extremely difficultv job will require sacrifices not only from the president but also from his loved ones. QUESTIONNAIRES During the Board Meeting, a discussion arose from the letter sent by the Citizens for Better Government to its members, containing a questionnaire on village affairs. Nina Keen, president of the citizens, was pleased with the results as she handed the returned questionnaires to the Board, but some of the trustees objected to it since it had not been sent to all residents. Ms. Keen stated that everybody was invited to become a member of the Citizens for Better Govern ment for a small donation to cover postage and similar expenses, but that the members could not be asked to pay for mailing to non- members. It was finally decided to make the Questionnaire available to all residents of the shores at the village hall. Anybody who wants to see and answer the question naire, may pick up a copy at the village hall during regular business hours. The village hall is closed on Thursdays. It is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; ----, PAGE 17 - PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 2. lfBl Fridays from 10 to 5; and Saturdays from 10 to 2. CITIZENS FOR BETTER GOVERNMENT This is probably just the place to again tell you something about the group which is called Citizens for Better Government. The people who founded this group believe that com munication between the village government and its people is an absolute necessity. They believe that the residents have a right to know what goes on in government and why things happen. But communication is a two-way street. It is also necessary that the govern ment knows what the people want, that they get the feedback from the residents. In spite of the fact thiat in the minds of many, the citizens group is connected mainly with the question of the road assessment, it has always been open to every resident. As a matter of fact, when it was founded, people went from house to house to get support for their ideas. At the time, the road assessment loomed highest in the minds of all con cerned, but the main ob jective of the Citizens for Better Government was always and will be complete communication between government and people. Ideally, every resident of McHenry Shores would automatically be a member of the citizens group, but some monies are needed for printing and mailing their information. That is why you, the residents, have to make the effort and contact either Nina Keen at 344-2665, Mary Lou Heald (385-6645) or A1 Kapp (385-7542) if you also want to become a member.
